Old School (2003)

Immature, toilet-humor. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it isn't. In Old School, I would definitely have to say- it works. This movie is hilarious. To me, a movie is a great one when there are atleast 3 or 4 times that you laugh out loud...and atleast twice when you can't stop laughing. A cinder block tied to your penis by a length of rope can be hilarious...that would be the only lesson learned from Old School. Well, that and the fact that Elisha Cuthbert is even hotter than she was a few years ago.
Luke Wilson stars as newly broken up Mitch, who leaves after he discovers his girlfriend is fond of, well gangbangs when he's away on business. Mitch's two best friends are Frank (Will Ferrel) and speaker city owner, Beanie (Vince Vaughn.) Mitch moves out of his house and into a nice place near the university campus. The guys decide to throw him a party to kick off his new life. After a night of partying with college kids, sleeping with a girl who he later finds out is a senior (in high school!), and a performance by Snoop Dog, Mitch's life has completey turned around. I won't bother you with too many details on the story (the plot isn't real complicated, of course), but the dean of the school is someone the guys used to pick on, and now he wants revenge...the guys have to move out of the place, because the school has taken it over, and it's for university use only. So, they start a fraternity so Mitch can keep the house.
This is all great for the guys...even tho Frank loses his wife and ends up moving in with Mitch, Mitch's high school crush thinks he's insane, and Mitch finds out he slept with the boss' daughter (the high school senior I mentioned, played by Elisha Cuthbert.) Everything is fine, then the guys have to move out again...unless they can file for a charter for their fraternity and pass all these tests. As I said, the story isn't all too complicated.
I'll say this much- Old School is one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. All three guys, especially Vaughn and Ferrel, are terrific...the unknown actors (unknown to me atleast) are even funny every now and then...given the chance to do some hilarious stuff.
I always have a hard time writing reviews...thinking, it's nearly impossible to rate stuff without giving out details to the movie, thus ruining it for anyone who might read. So, I won't give anything way, and I'll just leave it at that...hilarious. Great movie for all ages...okay, not really, but it's a good time.
By the way, did I mention how hot Elisha Cuthbert is?
My rating: 9.5/10
