Freddy VS Jason (2003)

Lame. Great word to describe the mess that is Freddy vs Jason...a movie that has been talked about for years, a movie that should have never even been made. Now, some of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies are pretty good, and some of the Friday the 13th movies are good. The combination of both- not so good.

You start out with the fact that the actors are so annoying and so bad, they make the campers at Crystal Lake in all other f13 movies look oscar-worthy. Kelly Rowland, tho somewhat cute, is annoying as she can be...same goes for the rest of the girls in the cast. The guys are a bit less crappy in regards to acting talent, but still- they're pretty bad. That much is enough to annoy you and make the movie unworthy of a second viewing.

The storyline is pretty silly, and the whole Jason fighting Freddy thing is pretty stupid, if you ask me. I didn't need to see this. It was more like a WWE match than a horror movie...especially near the end. There was a lot less scary in this movie compared to the rest of both series, I thought. There were a few scenes that made you jump, but it just wasn't scary in general, and the overall feeling of the movie was lacking the creepiness you get with some of the others in the series.

As for comedy in this movie...there are a number of jokes, but all but one fall flat. The only funny part of the film is when the stoner guy (who looks just like Jay from Clerks, Mallrats, etc.) sees the weird worm like creature and wigs out. That was funny, and I laughed out loud, but I cannot remember laughing any other time during the movie.

Hopefully, there will be no more movies like this. It was a movie that hardcore fans of both series MIGHT enjoy...those who like two maniacs fighting for the right to kill off the dumb kids- you'll surely enjoy this, but I didn't. It wasn't much of a horror movie, and it felt nothing like the horror movies of the 80's, which is mostly what Friday the 13th and Nightmare was...
