About
The Show
Adrian
Monk is a former top San Francisco police officer.
He has a knack for solving crimes that no one
else can. He has crime solving skills that amaze
the best in the business. Monk can do it all.
Well...he used to be able to do it all. Now,
suffering from server obsessive compulsive
disorder after the murder of his wife, Monk finds
it impossible to live his life normally let alone
be a cop. He wants to get back on the force where
he belongs, but for now he'll have to be content
working as a consultant with the help of his
nurse and side kick, Sharona.
The
two of them have a very close relationship, and
sometimes we even see a bit of connection between
Monk and Benjy, Sharona's son, who finds his
mom's new job to be very very odd. Adrian still
has the ability to solve problems no other
officer can, and one day he'll be a cop again...for
now, he'll have to worry about the millions of
germs around him while he solves the mysteries.
I
think it's nice to see a show about a mental
disorder like this. Life can be hell for people
dealing with such a disorder, but Monk tries to
make light of it, which makes it more human. We
get to see Monk as a fallible human being with
real problems...problems that he rarely overcomes
completely. He's a good guy and a good detective...his
problem makes for many obstacles and many laughs
