Well, I got my little drug test done...I'm negative! Yay for me. I didn't know they did 2 minute drug tests. Weird. For my last job, they sent it off to a lab or something, I believe? This time, I gave a sample, and she put it in this bottle, and a few minutes later, all these blue circles showed up on the side of the bottle, and that was that. I returned that stuff and all the other paperwork to the post office lady...now I start working Monday morning (some classes or something) at 8:30 AM...then on Wednesday, I start vehicle training...how fun. I asked her how you get on as a full time carrier, and she said I need to take the postal exam...which hasn't been given since 1998...she said they think they will be giving it sometime in 2003. I will probably take it, just in case I like the job and want to stay on as a full time employee...more money, benefits, and I won't have to switch back and forth between carrier and clerk every 6 months...
I missed my dentist appointment, because I couldn't pee enough at first for the drug test! Awful, huh? This sucks, because I can't take off during the day with a new job and all...plus, my insurance will be gone when I quit...I don't know what I'm going to do. Why should it be so impossible to get good health care in this country?
What is the deal with drug tests anyhow? They're so ridiculous. I mean...they make you wash your hands before you go in...they have an alarm on the toilet, so you can't flush it, they have the soap dispenser in the bathroom all taped up, the water turned off in the sink and toilet...and blue stuff in the toilet itself...okay people- all a person would have to do is bring a test tube full of clean urine! Or...if someone really wanted the job bad enough and knew they would test positive, they could glue tubes full of urine to their body somewhere...PLUS- what does a drug test prove? Nothing...besides your clean right before the test...you can leave the test and go smoke some crack, and it's highly unlikely they'll do a random drug test anytime soon! So, they have a guarantee that you're drug free before the test, and you could come in Monday morning stoned out of your mind. Great idea! Drug testing is pointless...Not to mention, they only test you for certain drugs...marijuana, PCP, a few others...silly.
Where on earth can I find a cheap wallet? Wal- Mart? Mine ripped open, and I need one, but I don't have much money on me...oh well.
I told my supervisor yesterday I would be quitting and I started Monday, which I thought she knew meant I would be leaving Friday...but she was asking if I would be there next week to train someone else...screw that! I aint working all day and all night...
