As Told by Ginger is an animated series on Nickelodeon. The show features Ginger, a young girl in jr. high school who is stuck between her friends and an attempt to make friends with the most popular girl in school, Courtney Gripling. Tho the show is based around Ginger and her two best friends, Dodie and Macie...I find the subplots featuring Carl (Ginger's brother) and Hoodsey much more entertaining. Other characters in the show include, Miranda, the snobbiest girl in school, who is always Courtney's best friend; Darren, the awkward boy with braces, who is Ginger's best guy friend; and Ginger's mother...a nurse who seems to have been a feminist at one point in her life. The show currently airs daily on NICKTOONS TV.

I haven't updated the page here in forever...but, as most of you know, As Told By Ginger has been cancelled for some time...and no telling when the episodes of the final season will air in the US. They have aired all of the episodes in the UK, I believe...and you'd think they'd air the episodes here in the US, but no luck just yet. A few of the newest episodes have aired, but Nick does a terrible job of letting us all know in advance, and they air them at odd times...change episodes, etc.
I will try to update when I get more info.
December 10, 2003 -
I haven't heard anything else about new episodes from any official source, outside of this bit of news, which is rather annoying- they're not seeming to care about the fans of the show in my opinion...but, when I find out something, I will be sure to post it.
August 25, 2003 - More ATBG news from the newest Cooltoons Newsletter. Looks like Ginger will be making another trip to Camp Caprice in an upcoming episode. Will her feelings for Sasha get in the way of her relationship with Darren? This is what the newsletter says:
August 17, 2003 - Here's a picture of Darren and Ginger kissing in Far From Home. It's from the Cooltoons Newsletter. Also, below are the lyrics to the song Ginger sings in the movie. It was also in the same newsletter.
All this time it was you
I didn't think that it could be true
You were right there from the start
And what might be the strangest part
Is while I sure enjoyed the view
Of seeing everything brand new
It's still you // All this time I was home
I didn't know just how far I'd roam
Winter brings all this snow
Blinding, it covers everything you know
But when the sun comes shining through
And the sky returns to blue
I will rush to take my cue and find you
Finally, to everyone who has asked me about the reairing of Far From Home. It airs next Saturday night on NICK. 7PM CT.
August 12, 2003 - I saw Far From Home Saturday and taped it...I might try to get some pics using my camera...since I can't get my tv tuner card to work anymore. I liked the movie, but I thought Noelle's voice was absurd...and very very annoying. She sounded like some stereotype of an asian with bad english and a heavy accent. I could do without that voice ever again! We'll see how this plays out in the upcoming episodes, I guess. The message boards are still down...problems with mySQL. I'm working on it...
UPDATE: I have got the message boards back up. They are now located here. (http://www.thebluesite.com/forums/index.php?c=3)
August 9, 2003 - Just wanted to mention that they are also playing previews for Far From Home that center around Carl and Hoodsey (and even Noel Sussman), asking the question, who is weirder?
August 8, 2003 - The second ATBG movie, Far From Home (Foutley's On Ice) airs tomorrow night. They've been playing previews for it, and it doesn't tell us much (besides Ginger going away to some arts school and Darren missing her like crazy), but it looks good either way. They're playing the Avril Lavigne song, Complicated, over the middle and end of the preview. On Nicktoons TV, the guide on digital cable said there would be ATBG episodes all night, but I turned it on a second ago, and it was just Spongebob. That schedule for Nicktoons TV is ALWAYS messed up in the cable listings.
Also- The message boards that I made...I had to delete them, due to a glitch. I will have to redo them and add them soon. Sorry for the inconvenience if you actually tried to visit them.
July 30, 2003 - The new Cooltoons Newsletter (#88, August 2003) mentions the name change for Foutley's On Ice:
The As Told By Ginger special, "Foutley's On Ice" has had its title changed to "Far From Home" in America.
It doesn't mention any other ATBG news, tho it did mention a new upcoming Rocket Power movie where the whole gang goes to Hawaii!
July 27, 2003 - It appears that Foutley's On Ice is also being called Far From Home. This is what TV Guide has listed for the 90 minute TV movie that airs on August 9.
As Told by
Ginger: Far from Home
Bright, thoughtful animated tween Ginger Foutley stars in this 2003 cable comedy, the second movie based on her series.
While the film is fun for all ages, the target 9-to-14-year-old audience should especially enjoy the sweet story about the changes in Ginger's life (and hairstyle!) when she spends a semester away from family and classmates. Of course, separation pangs occur during her time at Avalanche Arts Academy, but they're eased when she makes new friends and finds a potential love interest. There are plenty of comical moments, most courtesy of a subplot involving younger brother Carl's budding romance with a telekinetic girl, who's voiced by series creator Emily Kapnek.
July 23, 2003 - I mentioned before that a few of the yahoo groups for ATBG, and even one for the lady who does the voice for Lois, mentioned that the show was cancelled...it wasn't, but from how it looks- season 3 will be the final season. Here are the episodes from season 3 to come:
The Easter Ham
Butterflies Are Free (1)
Butterflies Are Free (2)
Fair To Cloudy
Stuff'll Kill Ya
Dodie's Big Break
Kiss Today Good-Bye
Tightropes (aka What Makes Us Stronger)
Battle Of The Bands
There will also be two
TV movies- The Wedding Frame (I hear that Lois
will marry Dr. Dave, and this will be the series finale), and Foutleys
on Ice which the Cool Toons newsletter (#86) announced
will air August 9. Here's what the newsletter said:
GINGER EPISODE "FOUTLEY'S ON ICE" TO AIR AUGUST 9TH
As Told By Ginger" fans, the wait is over! Sure to be one of the most talked about episodes EVER... "Foutley's On Ice" will bring about major changes for the entire cast! Ginger gets accepted to a prestigious art school in the mountains. Will she abandon her life and friends at Sheltered Shrubs in favor of her new surroundings? And what major revelation does Darren come to? Be sure to watch the movie-length episode on Nick on Saturday, August 9th for the answers!
And finally, ATBG has
been nominated, once again, for an EMMY award. Here's what the
Cool Toons Newsletter (#87) said about that:
UP FOR AN EMMY FOR THE THIRD TIME!
For the third consecutive year, "As Told By Ginger" has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program... this time for the critically acclaimed "And She Was Gone" episode! Let's hope this time the show brings it home! The winners will be announced on September 13th
May 31, 2003 - As you can from the schedule of upcoming episodes (above), there are no new episodes airing yet. I'm just as confused as everyone else. I've heard that some new episodes are airing in Canada and possibly in other countries, but none in the U.S. so far. I'll keep trying to find out when new episodes will air. Maybe they're holding off on the new episodes...no telling.
Also, I'm trying to add more new stuff to the page. I admit it's somewhat bare right now...
May 3, 2003 - I have seen on some sites and groups that the show has been cancelled, but nothing has been mentioned in the cool toons newsletter from klasky csupo. I am trying to verify this news, and will post when I find something out. They haven't been airing the new season's episodes. They aired one or two, and they have aired just repeats since then. I will find out more about that as well.
February 27, 2003 - Here are the words of Ginger's mini-poem in the episode "Hello Stranger" when she is walking to the mail box after school:
From fishsticks, fried food
Friday of freedom
Repair my foul mood.
"Carl and Maude") was in room 202
the girls had to do their community service at Golden Gates Convalescent Center. (I think it's spelled wrong on the sign tho)
February 21, 2003 - I have added two of Ginger's poems to the site. "And She Was Gone" and "Hello Stranger." I will be adding more of Ginger's "work" soon. Her song at Camp Caprice and her bits of poems she has read before are some examples of what's coming. Also- more facts, an entire page for each episode with pics from each episode, some sounds, and don't forget to check out the ATBG message board (no ads and no pop-ups! *ATBG boards are near the middle of the message boards page)
February 10, 2003 - I cannot find any information on the unaired episodes for season 3. I keep hearing news of The Foutley's On Ice, but it still isn't listed on the schedule anywhere, nor are any of the other new episodes. That might be normal, but it seems weird that only 2 (I think?) episodes have aired from the new season. I will try to find out more.
January 8, 2003 - As far as I can tell, there is still no official release date for the new As Told By Ginger (a 3 part episode), The Foutley's On Ice, and I have seen another movie called Rocket Power Meets As Told By Ginger listed as well, but we will have to see if that ever airs. It seems possible, since both shows are from Klasky Csupo. Seems like all the Nick shows are tho, huh? :)
December 23, 2002 - this came from the most recent cooltoons newsletter:
get a new boyfriend and you won't believe who it is!
The 3-part "Foutley's On Ice" will bring major changes for the whole ATBG cast!
