Psychology

Day 3- I skipped day 2...

I got this Book and the Month Club thingy in the mail the other day, and it had a number of books listed inside. I kept it, because I tend to keep almost everything, and it had a lot of good books in it, which I need to read eventually. Anyhow, I saw this book called Get Anyone to Do Anything, so I got it at the library the other day. I haven't started reading it, but I was looking thru the first chapter, which is about how to make anyone like/love you. Interesting stuff. I just wanted to post the "Strategy Review" at the end of the chapter.

How to get ANYONE to like you
1. Be around the person as much as you can because familiarity breeds fondess, not contempt!
2. When you speak with him (or her) try to do it when he (or she) is in a good mood to enact the law of association. Talk about common interests or experiences that you share and try to do more of the listening and less of the talking.
3. To enact the law of reciprocal affection, if you respect or admire something him or her for something make sure he/she knows this.
4. Let him/her do a simple favor for you, but make sure it's not out of a sense of obligation. This creates an unconscious motivation to like you more.
5. Build a psychological bridge and establish rapport by matching the person's gestures, rate of speech, and vocal patterns.
6. We are drawn to confident people. Show your confidence by being able to laugh at yourself and not taking yourself too seriously.
7. Make her feel good about herself. Be someone who is complimentary and sincerely kind and warm.
8. Have a positive mental attitude. We are drawn to people who are excited, passionate, and happy about life and being alive.

Very interesting stuff if you ask me. The next chapter is about getting anyone to find you attractive, and onto other stuff like- making people like your ideas, getting people to agree with your ideas, getting people to think you're gold, getting anyone to forgive you for anything, and a lot more. I wonder if any of it works?

I got 4 more DVD's at the library yesterday-
The Fog, the horror movie by John Carpenter;
Disappearance, some other horror movie (or maybe drama?) with Harry Hamlin;
Jason X (aka Friday the 13th Part 10);
and a comedy called Lucky Break about a prison musical...from the people who made The Full Monty, which is hilarious if you ask me...

I'm off to watch As Told By Ginger- Summer at Camp Caprice. Call me a dork.
