Silly Library Fines
Okay. I have a slight problem here. I went to the library site and checked my account. It says I owe $1.50 on a movie they haven't scanned (checked back in) yet. A movie that was due Friday.
Friday, April 11 (the due date)- I went to the west side library branch around 5 PM, and I dropped the video into the dropbox. That branch is closed on Saturday and Sunday (which is odd...not even the crappy Boonville library in a town of 10, 000 is closed on those days, yet a branch in a city of 300, 000 is closed two days in a row.) Anyhow...isn't fair for one to assume that the box would be cleaned out at 6 PM when they closed? They clearly didn't, and then they're closed two days in a row, so they charge me $1.50 this morning. I E-Mailed them and asked them to take it off my account. Maybe I'm alone here, but I think it a bit ridiculous to pay a fine, because they don't clean the box out at the end of the day. I mean, there's no notice on the dropbox that says, 'do not place items here on Friday afternoon, 'cause we won't take it out!' Even sillier is the fact that they must leave the box for 3 days without cleaning it out. What if there's a lot of people that come with a number of items and the somewhat small box fills up? Maybe I'm passionate about silly things sometimes, but I'm surely not gonna pay money for nothing.
