News on the War in Iraq

Here are a few news briefs in regards to the war in Iraq.

Large caches of weapons have been discovered by coalition military, and they have mentioned that many of the weapons have come from Jordan and France. The fact that a lot of it came from France might or might not be important.

A makeshift morgue was also found in Iraq, containing hundreds of bodies. Many of the people found there were clearly executed.
The coalition forces have taken over the special republican guard headquarters, without any resistance.

Coaltion forces have entered the center of Baghdad. They have completely taken over over the Saddam International Airport (which they have renamed Baghdad International.) They are surrounding the city so the republican guard who have moved out cannot get back in to defend the city itself.

In Basra, coalition forces have stormed the homes of militia and baath party members. They have taken down many statues of Saddam Hussein. They have also taken down many large posters/murals of Hussein.

One of Hussein's sons is thought to be dead (killed possibly in the first bombing of the war), but a video was released today showing both sons with Hussein. No idea when the video was made.

Kurdish forces, supported by U.S. air support, have taken over a number of cities and make huge gains in the past few days. They have also helped capture a number of important bridges.
