Possible Layout Changes

I will be trying to work sometime this week to change the format on the main site (thebluesite.com) to this layout below- with 3 columns...

I might have to find a different template to use, because the one that I put into a test blog as pictured above is hard to work with...some of the tags don't make sense to me, and when I try to add my content to either side column, it messes the page all up and adds it to the top and center all weird. Worked with it for many hours this past weekend, but still couldn't get it to work. I got my current template to work as I wanted it to- pretty much...but this new one is a bit different in the tags and how they're labeled for each section and I'm not getting it.

So I will be trying to work on making the changes sometime this week if I can get it to work. The layout as pictured has the colors used in the template itself as it was created, but I would be changing those colors to blues, as the site has always been blue (the BLUE site), and blue is my favorite color. that, and I already changed the banner at the top...was going to try to put a number of different "patriotic" pics togeter in a banner, but I'm no good at that photoshop combining stuff, so I decided against that idea. Was going to go with Washington crossing the Delware, then I was going to go with a closeup of Lincoln from the Lincoln Memorial, then I was thinking of the US Capitol, then the White House maybe...had a bunch of pictures saved. Was going to add a quote over the banner from Lincoln or maybe something from Reagan, but no telling what I'll do now. Wanted to incorporate the site name into the banner somewhere, because it's hard to have a banner and find room and proper alignment for text that lists the site name, but I don't know what I'll do in that regard either.

Want the 3 columns, so I can easily add more content on either side of the middle column with the body of the posts in that- easier to add various specific blog rolls, possible ad space (doubtful I'll ever include any ads, but who knows), banners and icons to issue related sites and various campaigns, etc. Easier than trying to add all of that in a never ending list on the left hand column as I would have to do now...

That banner looks great, Josh. Anything with the Founding Fathers and/or DC is gonna be good. Reagan is a great idea too.

I tried to put three columns in my blog a few weeks ago too, but the template I have already loses about an inch of space on both sides, and it just bunched up everything terribly. You're looks like you have lots of room to work with, though.

I've been thinking about just breaking down and buying a domain like you and so many others have. That way, I could have the colors that I prefer (grey and blue) and still be able to have the various little scripts that I like, but am limited to on Blogger.

i said i was going to work on the layout this week, but i worked on it for like 10 mins and wanted to scream. so i stopped. for now. :) just wanted 3 columns so i can pack more stuff into the page easier and not have it go on forever and ever and ever. plus make things easier to find and all, of course.

you should get a domain name. be cool like me and the other cool kids. its rad...wait, is that what the kids say nowadays? rad. or is it coolarino. yes. thats what im going with- coolarino.

Rad, I know. Coolarino must be some Yankee or west coast thing. ;)

I think "Coolarino" is the store Jorge Bush hopes to open, after his ghastly open borders plan (thanks to Jeb and his immigrant wife) comes into full swing.

actually..."coolarino" came from a nickelodeon cartoon called rocket power. and come on- any word that i steal from a 40 something yr old surfer who owns a beachfront restaurant and he doesnt really exist HAS to be cool.

if you go there (or any page thatll show a 404 error)...thats the guy who, in one episode, kept saying cooollllarino. coolarino.
