In 2005, our leaders support military action based on popularity polls and if one too many soldiers died. I will again remind everyone that, tho any war death is horrible, 1, 700 deaths in over 2 years is a very small number. Some of our leaders today are so wimpy, they would have died before they supported military action in the past...we've had wars in the past where 1, 700 men could have been killed in a half hour!!! We're talking TWO YEARS with Iraq. Over 200, 000 men, only 1, 700 deaths...if you only listened to the wimps among us, you'd think this was a catastrophe and a reason pull out every troop tomorrow. Wars cause deaths. Wars are ugly. When will the wimps among us realize this?
The MSM attacks on a daily basis, and as has been mentioned before- if we had the media we have now back in WWI, WWII, etc. - we probably would have been toast from the word "go"! The left wing media cause a defeat in Vietnam, and ever since then, they caused trouble nonstop, especially when it comes to any military action we're engaged in (unless, of course, you're Bill Clinton, in which case the media is fine with pointless treks into the Balkans and that sort of crazy things of the utmost importance to our national interests- duh.)
You are a 26 year old male who whole-heartedly and vocally supports the war in Iraq. Why have you not enlisted? To dismiss troop deaths the way you do, from your comfy chair on your home computer, is disgusting.
Don't argue with my opinion on the war. We'll never agree there. Just answer me: how can you not enlist without being called a hypocrite?
im not dismissing troop deaths at all. im merely saying that this wimpy atttude never would have been tolerated back in the day. vietnam changed all of that and allowed the media and the peace hippies to turn everything into a negative. 1700 deaths really IS pretty good for over 2 yrs for a war. no deaths are really "good" in the end, but were not doing so bad. the point is- the media is feeding neverendign negativity about the situation when they support other actions by other more media friendly presidents (read clinton).and, its not going horribly wrong when you realize its a war, it seems the media and some of our leaders want a no blood war with rainbows and sunshine and it aint gonna happen.
You avoided my enrollment question. Answer, please.
because im not interested. i answered the second part and forgot the first...not avoiding anything.
clearly, youre going to be like most anti-war peace hippies and say that you cant condemn anyone for not supporting military action unless youre on the front lines yourself...which means that most of our leaders would never have the right to do so either. presidents would have no right to call men into duty if they hadnt served...leaders would have no rightto condemn traitors or deserters unless they served themselves, etc.
that, of course, is a ridiculous argument. but im sure its coming, as it always does with the peace hippies.
