Joe Wilson...ahhh. This guy came back to the front of the news. Why? We proved he was a liar when he touted supposed Bush lies last year as part of the Kerry campaign...he even had a website of his own called Restore Honesty- paid for and built by the Kerry campaign. Then, he was exposed as a liar, and Kerry dropped him. His website and all referecnes to him and his work quickly disappeared from the Kerry website. He was seen as a liar and was booted from the Kerry team altogether. Fortunately, I copied the front page of Wilson's site and saved it on my own website. You can view his page here. (PREVIOUS: Blue Site: Joe Wilson's Honest Gap
As you can see...(from a Wikipedia Article that references my cached files of Wilson's site)
Now, he comes out with the attack on Bush and claims this Downing Street Memo proves lies...yet, now he contradicts his own claims and the claims of the memo itself by saying this:
"I believe the threat to the United States posed by Saddam's weapons of mass destruction -- which we all believed he had -- could have been dealt with using something less violent than the invasion, conquest and occupation of Iraq,"
Wait...I thought his claim was that we knew there were no WMD and that Bush "fixed" the intelligence around all of this. Funny how this works- I have mentioned before that to believe that anyone fixed any intel, they would have to have fixed ALL the intel. The US and UK weren't the only ones with lots of intelligence saying that Hussein had WMD. The French, Germans, Russian, Italians, and others had the same exact intel. This is why the memo is getting no coverage. The memo says nothing new...it says that we wanted to act against Hussein, and we wanted regime change. All the intel from every nation pointed to the same conclusion- Hussein had WMD and had not fully complied with the UN Security Council for over 11 years! 17 Security Council resolutions, 20+ letters to Iraq from the SecCouncil President, corruption over the oil for food scandal, and a refusal by the regime to allow unrestricted access to ANY WMD team sent by the UN.
The official US policy since 1998 was regime change in Iraq. The official intel that came from Clinton said that Hussein had WMD as well. Yet, they claim that Bush lied. Doesn't that mean that Clinton, who said the same thing and had the same intel, lied as well? ALL the Congress, both parties, agreed that Huseein had WMD, and they all had access to the same intelligence that showed this. The argument wasn't whether or not Hussein had WMD, it was on how to deal with the issue.
So, the memo freaks calling for impeachment make themselves look totally idiotic, considering none of their facts line up. None of their claims make any sense, and there pure hatred for Bush being their sole reason for doing all that they do is made as clear as day. The one question I have for Joe Wilson- wasn't it enough that I proved you a liar once? Why must you make it so easy for me to do it again?
um, Josh, I don't think it was your "hard-hitting investigative journalism" that "proved" Wilson to be a liar. Let's not toot our own horn so much, eh?
I hardly said as much. I, myself, along with many others, pointed out the obvious lies from Mr. Wilson.
If you want, from now on I can put:
"I (along with thousands of others on the net) proved you a liar."
It's the least I could do...it's the nice guy I am.
Could you? That is very nice of you. Thanks!
I think what Joe Wilson was trying to say was that many people thought Saddam had WMDs _because_ the administration deceived and faked intelligence to such a great extent. (See Colin Powell's references to mobile weapons labs, the aluminum tube fiasco and the Niger uranium purchase, complete with faked documents.)
No, if you can back and look at the UN's intelligence and the French, the Russian, the other nation's intelligence, you'll see a gaping difference.
