Col Hunt: Gitmo Prisoners Treated Well

(417 Words) Posted at June 8, 2005 03:46 AM in Current Events .

When you think of any prisoner...you have to remember that, even tho these men are locked up and have no freedom, they're still treated well, and even the terrorist prisoners at Guantanamo Bay live better lives than some free citizens in the U.S. (and MUCH better than many free people of other nations.) That's fairly telling in the way they're treated, and how even when you fight against the US, you're still treated humanely for the most part (outside of a handful of idiots without any sense, such as was the case at abu ghraib prison.)

According to Col David Hunt, talking to Bill O'Reilly last night, he talked to a former Gitmo detainee, now living in Pakistan (he said he was taliban who supported al qaeda). He was released after 2 years, and he said that he lived better at the prison than any other time in his life. He told Hunt about how the taliban trained him to make complaints and get into it with guards, claim koran abuse, etc. The taliban told him if he were to be captured by the US, they would treat him well, and because of that- claim abuse, make trouble. He mentioned to Hunt how was given 3 meals a day, clean cells, clean sheets and blankets for their beds, workout facilities, outdoor areas where they could get exercise, showers, medical care, etc.

Another thing Hunt mentioned about Gitmo...something that was surprising to me- he said the prisoners at Gitmo are being built a $2.8 million psychiactric facility to care for their mental health. Amazing.

Hunt says- there's no way there is any torture going on down there, and all of the evidence tells us that these men are being treated well. There are always a few bad apples, and if they're found, they're punished...but, other than the few bad of the bunch, the treatment there is humane. The MSM won't admit to this, and they won't point out the facts of their treatment (the 3 daily meals, clean cells with clean sheets on their beds, medical care, outdoor areas for exercise, prayer rugs given to them with korans to use, clean clothers, showers, dental care, mental health care, etc.) The MSM will continue to attack, using this issue as an attempt merely to attack Bush, but the fact is- the evidence all points to humane treatment, and many of the former prisoners themselves say that they lived better in prison in Cuba than as free men in Afghanistan.
