Al Franken Talks...and Talks...and Talks...and Talks...
So, Al Franken gets an award from Talkers Magazine (a radio industry magazine), and instead of giving a quick thank you speech as any normal person would...Franken (whose ego is the size of a large city) starts in on a speech...a very very very long speech (pages and pages long) attacking the Bush administration and the war in Iraq, attacking other big name radio hosts (who actually have ratings unlike Franken and anyone else on Air America- some of the stations playing Air America actually have a 0.0 rating)...and he just won't shut up. The host of the event has to get up at this cocktail party get together where they gave him the award and tell him to stop his speech- he's ruining their party, because people are getting pissed- both conservative and liberal partygoers. Both sides are telling Franken to SHUT UP...and people actually start getting up to leave. This pompous tells the crowd he has two more pages left (this guy has huge balls clearly), and by this time people are yelling telling him to end it and stop ruining their night.
The host of he event has to walk toward the stage to tell him to cut his speech NOW or else. Talk show hosts are coming up and telling him to stop bloviating and to end his speech now. He continues on...
He FINALLY ends his attack speech and accepts his award.
Now, on his radio show (which also airs on Sundance)...he claims it wasn't his fault. None of it was his fault he explains. He takes this time to attack the other hosts as well (he has his massive speech and his low rated radio show to attack.)
Franken claims that he was merely telling most of these rightwingers the truth- that Bush is evil, he's a liar, the war is evil, blah blah blah. He says that he was being attacked for trying to be honest (see, only Franken is honest in his head...the other talk show hosts are evil liars.)
I cannot imagine anyone listens to this garbage. Unlike the more conservative talkers- Franken just isn't funny. Not a bit. He was never funny on SNL, and he's terribly unfunny on the radio. This is why liberal talkers never work, and this is why Air America is tanking in the ratings. This is why Franken sounds so bitter, so angry, and so stupid. It's not surprising that he turns this entire event around and claims none of it was his fault. Those evil conservatives did it! Franken has no choice but to give a 10 minute speech for a small award which should have meant a thank you and a goodbye...
