In Denver, an off duty police officer, who was working security at a private event, was shot and killed over the past weekend by an illegal alien. In Denver, the law stipulates that a person cannot be arrested simply for violating federal immigration law, and the cops must let the law breaker go if there is no other crime to go along with the federal immigration violation.
The 19 year old illegal, who confessed to the killing to his girlfriend, is still on run. He was stopped 3 times by police, but since Denver has these barbaric laws, where police can't arrest illegals simply for being illegals, he wasn't ever taken into custody. If he had been taken into custody and deported, as the law dictates of illegals, this police officer would be alive today.
The illegal alien lobby has successfully pushed their agenda thru in many of these cities. It's ludicrous that a police officer in many large cities cannot detain an illegal alien due to these idiotic sanctuary statutes. If a LAW ENFORCEMENT official finds someone VIOLATING THE LAW, that officer should be given the duty to UPHOLD AND ENFORCE THE LAW. Yet, thanks to the open borders/amnesty idiots, that's not the case, and illegals can run free in our cities without fear, committing any crime they see fit to commit (including, as in this case, murder!)
So, while the amntesy fools sit back and protest the law, and demand freedom for the millions who are, on a daily basis, violating our laws, these individuals will continue to commit heinous acts of crime against LEGAL American citizens. It's like a slap in the face to the millions of immigrants who come here in a legal manner- 'sorry guys, you respected the law and did all you were supposed to do, but we're still going to allow millions of others to violate our law and run amok in our cities!'
No common sense from the liberal side of this argument that wants more open (or totally open) borders, amnesty, etc. No common sense from many of the conservatives, including President Bush who refuse to deal with the laws and actually enforce them to protect law-abiding Americans that are here legally and not committing crimes like these thugs are. There will continue to be murder, drug dealing, violent crimes of all sorts, as long as our leaders refuse to enforce immigration laws, and that includes putting an end to these sanctuary cities, because if police find someone violating federal law, only an idiot would say that they're not allowed to enforce the law and take the offender in.
