Disinformation: Dems Best Friend on Filibuster/Soc Security

(1121 Words) Posted at May 9, 2005 03:55 AM in Politics .

I went to Harry Reid's site to contact him...and I notice on the front page there's a mock up of a social security card that says "How much will you lose under Bush privatization?"

This is SO completely ridiculous. "Bush privatization"?!?! That's clearly an inaccurate portrayal of what the plan is. Part of the plans calls for there to be OPTIONAL. Wait, let me make this a bit more clear....

OPTIONAL PRIVATE ACCOUNTS

That's one part of the plan that Bush has. Problem with democrats like Reid? They have NO plan whatsoever. They won't admit there's any problem with social security, tho the facts point to the problems in the system. This is why Kerry lost the election. Besides being a liberal democrat from New England, which doesn't play so well in most of the country, he also lost because like all democrats right now- he had no plan...just as Reid and his fellow Senators have no plan right now for soc. security. I take that back. They have a plan, and here it is- "anything but Bush's idea." That's their plan, and that's just sad.

His site also has front page- a listing of a couple of polls taken by a democratic pollster.

Too bad these polls mean nothing, and Reid knows it.

With the "nuclear option"- thanks to the MSM, most Americans are convinced that filibustering judicial nominees is a 200+ year old tradition, since that's what the left keeps telling us. It's too bad, since filibustering judicial nominees like this is brand new! Only in the past few years has it been taken to this level, and I believe it was first done in this manner only in 1949. The rules aren't being changed in the middle of the game as the democrats keep saying, and the MSM keeps reporting, it's quite the opposite. Nominees have always gotten a vote one way or another. Reid attacks many of the nominees because they don't agree with Roe V Wade! In the democrats' minds, if you don't agree with Roe V Wade (and the slaughter of tens of millions of unborn babies), you're a "radical"!!! How's that for sanity?

Reid attacks black female nominee, California Supreme Court Justice Janice Rogers Brown, as being a woman who, if she had her way, would bring us back to the days of the civil war. Reid has the cajones to say that about a black woman, about a war that was all about slavery!! Insanity. Other party leaders have been forced to step down for trying to say nice things about an old man on his birthday, but Reid says this, and where is the outrage?! Janice Rogers Brown is opposed by the Congressional Black Caucus, and this proves that she's not fit. Yeah right...news flash- the CBC is practically a wing of the democratic party. A group of black members of Congress who have decided they want to seperate themselves by race, obsess about race, and think they have the right to speak on all matters related to race, and they oppose Brown. Woe is me, what am I ever to do without the support of the CBC? Give me a break!

Even worse...Reid's ignorant comments were given to high school students! No wonder the electorate are so ignoran as to what is really going on!

So...we know the majority of the nation is totally clueless as to the filibuster and the tradition of using it and what the issues at stake are. They have to be clueless, because most Americans get their news from the MSM, and they're touting the democratic lies for the most part. I guarantee you, a majority of Americans would not support the dem push to require a super majority JUST to allow judicial nominees to get a vote at all! These polls (considering we're talking about a democratic pollster, it's probably worse) is tainted in my eyes, and it's meaningless in the end.

The page also claims that the pollster discovered that 46% of Americans support the democrats plan to put a halt to government business if the "nuclear option" is put into action. That's just laughable. There is no way 46% of the American people would support a government shut down if they knew all the facts. The filibuster is NOT a traditional tool for denying judicial nominees a right to get a vote, simply because the democrats are gung ho over abortion on demand! It's just not even remotely possible.

In regards to the poll numbers of social security, the page claims that most Americans believe there's no crisis at all, and that Bush's plan isn't a good plan. I saw numbers a couple of weeks ago that contradict these completely. The difference is- the way the questions were asked.

The democratic pollster's method right now is to say something to the effect of-

'Bush wants to privatize social security, and force Americans into trading accounts that are the same type that were once traded by companies like Enron and Worldcom. Since we know that the market isn't stable and the government can guarantee the payments (they really can't), do you support his plan?'

Of course, when you put it like that, everyone votes- no way!

BUT...

When you throw in, oh, ya know...some facts, you see a big difference. When the poll informs the poll taker that the private accounts are OPTIONAL, and that the changes wouldn't affect anyone anytime soon, the numbers change drastically. When the poll informs you that you, yourself, can choose how much money goes into the government account (if any at all) and how much goes into a private account, you see a difference in the numbers.

When the polls inform you that the filibuster is being used to deny nominees for the simple reason that the democrats merely disagree with the people who don't support abortion (for one example), you see the numbers change as well.

The fact is- these polls are bogus. Reid and his fellow democrats aren't being honest, and the democratic party today is a party without ideas. The campaign of disinformation is staggering, and the MSM doesn't help matters since it often times parrots the democratic talking points daily. The left continues to spew hatred, and they're doing all they can to spread disinformation in regards to these two issues as often as they can...most Americans don't pay enough attention to know better, and that's a shame. It's the responsibility of all of us to know, and to stick to, the facts, but it's also the duty of, what should be, a responsible party to do the same. That's just not happening on the left today, and that, too, is a shame.
