Bill Press on Fox News Live: Lies, Lies, and a Few More Lies

(579 Words) Posted at May 17, 2005 08:57 AM in Politics .

Bill Press is making an ass of himself on Fox News Live. He says we KNOW that Tom DeLay violated ethics rules, which isn't true (unless Press is the almighty and can see into the minds of Americans.) He also claimed that Republicans changed the rules in the senate in regards to the filibuster- which is nonsense...no president in history has had judicial nominees filibustered like this. The number of Clinton nominees filibustered was nearly as high, but they weren't in the high courts directly below the US Supreme Court, as is the case with Bush's picks.

Press then claimed that Republicans changed the rules in Florida in 2000...a bit of info- Press thinks Gore actually won Florida despite the media recounts (NYT and other major papers) that found Bush would have won no matter how many hanging chads you counted for Gore. Someone should let Bill know this information, so he can stop making a fool of himself on national television. Also, someone should inform him it was Gore who tried to change the rules- the state law in Florida demands that all counties be counted and filed in a certain time period, and that any counties NOT certified would be left out of the overall state count...democrats demanded, and from the FL Supreme Court, received extra time to recount, and recount, and recount specific DEMOCRATIC strong counties they picked themselves...this isn't legal, it isn't fair, it isn't playing by the rules. So, Press' claims are even the more absurd taking into account THE FACTS.

Press also claimed Republicans tried to change the rules in Florida with Terri Shiavo. The sad reality is- congress demanded that the court look at the case anew, but the Florida court refused to abide bu the law Congress passed and never looked at the facts anew. Press knows very well that the law passed to protect Terri's rights (the rights of a disabled woman) was passed with BIPARTISAN support. So, not only does he lie about a supposed changing of the rules, he also attempts to lie in claiming this was a move by Republicans, yet it was supported by both parties and passed by both parties. Clearly, Press doesn't need to worry about honesty and those little things we like to call facts.

Press told Fox that he thought Dean went over the line with his constant hateful remarks about Republicans (that Republicans are "evil," that DeLay should go serve his prison sentence (DeLay isn't even accused of committing a crime!), and that he "hates" Republicans and everything they stand for. Those are just SOME of the outrageous comments by Dean, yet in the end, Press supports the guy and says that sometimes people say things that are a bit harsh, but that Dean is great for the party. Clueless Press thinks hate filled Dean is great for the party filled with hate, so I guess it must be okay!

Press needs to go on TV more, because he'll continue to make an ass of himself and tell lie after lie. With liberals like these, who needs elections at all- the American people just don't buy into the neverending hateful rhetoric coming from the left, and the constant lies don't help much either. I've said before that Dean is great for Republicans, and I praise his attacks- keep 'em coming, I say...but, it's clear now we should say the same thing to Press. He makes the democrats look just as bad.
