Girl Sexually Assaulted in School, Administrators Refuse to Call Police

Disgusting. A 16 year old developmentally challenged girl was beaten and forced to perform oral sex by a number of boys at her high school in Columbus, Ohio, all while one person videotaped the act and dozens stood by and witnessed. The principal of Mifflin High school was suspended and will be fired for not calling police about the incident (school staff found the girl bleeding from the mouth). If you check the school's website, you'll notice she is not on the list of staff members, instead it lists the principal as being a woman named "Laura Commodor-Young."

The report from WKMG TV Florida (linked above) also states that 3 assistant principals were also suspended and will be reassigned to other schools. I'd have to hear more of the story as to why these 3 were suspended, and if they need to be allowed back in any school at all. The story also says that one of the assistant principals urged the girl's father not to call 911 due to the media attention it would cause. That leads me to believe that at least 1 of these 3 suspended assistant principals needs to be kept away from every school. I will write up a short letter to the school board that runs this school, and I urge you to do the same. Whichever assistant principal urged the father not to call 911 needs to be kept away from schools and children altogether. That sort of behavior is unacceptable.

UPDATE: Another story on this event says that the Principal was fired and that NONE of the administrators at the school called Police...which means- they ALL need to go. Men and women who will allow sexual assaults to take place in their schools and then REFUSE to notify police need to be removed from the school immediately. There's no excuse for not notifying the police of this incident, and ALL of these administrators pose a threat to the students.

The school is run by The Columbus Public School District, and there contact information is as follows:

Columbus Public Schools 270 East State Street Columbus, OH 43215 (614) 365-5000 Office of Customer Relations at 365-8888.

The superintendent of schools is Gene T. Harris and can be reached at (614) 365-5888
