Yesterday, I woke up, and my brother asked me if I wanted to go to Boonville with him to pay his car insurance, and to Best Buy...I said yes, and we went. At Best Buy, I noticed they have a Charlie Brown box set with the halloween, thanksgiving, and christmas episodes- 3 discs together for like $40. They also had all of these 'movies' individually. I love Charlie Brown or Peanuts...whichever you want to call it, I prefer just calling it Charlie Brown myself. I got on amazon.com, and they have the set and also some other Peanuts' DVD's and they have this Christmas album from the Charlie Brown Christmas special as well...

Bill's latest article- this time on President Bush...
The Truth About Bush
By: Bill O'Reilly for BillOReilly.com
Thursday, Oct 30, 2003
A couple of weeks ago in this space I ran down the strengths and weaknesses of the Democratic presidential contenders, so now to be "fair and balanced" let's evaluate President Bush.
His strongest suit is the bond he forged with the American people immediately following the terror attack on September 11th. Mr. Bush reacted the way most Americans reacted: with anger and a stark determination to right the wrong.
And he did, he dethroned the Taliban and sent Al Qaeda into the caves. That sequence of events provided Bush with an emotional attachment to the folks. Only two other American Presidents in my lifetime have had that: John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.
George W. Bush is also a strong leader. He doesn't waffle around, and he isn't poll driven. He makes determinations and sticks to them. Some believe this is a minus, but I think a strong leader is a major plus in this time of terror.
So, the President's determination to stay the course could very much help him win re-election if the course is deemed successful. That's the hard part.
Also, Mr. Bush is seen as an honest man who espouses traditional values. That will shore up his conservative base, and even though he's a huge spender, the right-wing will not abandon him.
Finally in the plus department, the President is helped by those who are demonizing him. The criticism is so over the top in many quarters that legitimate questions about Bush's leadership are sometimes lost among all the vitriol.
The loony left's defamatory attacks persuade no one; they are simply shrill notes to the choir that already despises the President. Bush rarely responds to the grenades, wisely calculating that the excessive venom will turn off independent-thinking Americans.
And now for the downside. The President rarely shows his affable side, because he distrusts his ability to communicate. He cloisters himself behind iron gates when he should be holding town meetings and interacting with the people. When Mr. Bush speaks from the heart, he comes across well.
When he relies on canned speeches and statements, he looks like Don Knotts. He has good reason to distrust the press, but that doesn't mean he should avoid it. Mr. Bush's inaccessibility is a major drawback.
While the economy is picking up and will recede as a major campaign issue, the President has enormous problems in Iraq. He must acknowledge those difficulties and explain the mistakes his administration has made.
Mr. Bush continues to run a tightly controlled, closed shop. This will hurt him in a close election race. Americans will accept mistakes from a President, but they will not accept uncertainty. Bush's failure to get out in front of the administration's problems and define the payoff a stable Iraq will deliver is the biggest weapon the democrats have against him.
The President is generally disliked overseas and that's not good. He is portrayed in many places as an American chauvinist with a poor frame of reference. Thus, he is underestimated by prigs like Chirac and Schroeder.
The upside is that Mr. Bush is feared by the bad guys. Osama will not be visiting a Club Med anytime soon. But the President should make an attempt to be conciliatory to countries that might possibly help America down the road. He must swallow some pride, and if he doesn't, the country will suffer.
All in all, George W. Bush could go either way in the history books. If his Iraqi gamble pays off and worldwide terrorism is kept on the defensive, he will be well remembered. If Iraq degenerates into a fiasco, he'll sidle up alongside Lyndon Johnson.
Like him or not, the President is a man of strength and weakness. But the war on terror will define him, and that war is still to be determined.

This is a great little response to the Fresh Air interview with Bill O'Reilly that aired October 9, 2003 on NPR. The ombudsman for NPR agrees that the interview wasn't fair, and that Terry Gross was wrong to ask many of the questions she did, and she even went over the line and crossed into unethical territory. It's good to see that some people have sense, and can actually call it like it is. I listened to the interview (I recorded it in windows media format), and I will no longer listen to NPR after hearing it. I used to listen to NPR in the car a lot, but not anymore...they can attack fair minded guys like O'Reilly all they want...they can just do it without me. Here is the article from the NPR ombudsman.

Gross vs. O'Reilly: Culture Clash on NPR
By Jeffrey A. Dvorkin
Ombudsman
National Public Radio
On October 9, Terry Gross, longtime host of NPR's Fresh Air aired her interview with populist political talk show host Bill O'Reilly. The e-mails and phone calls of outrage are still arriving.
The interview was taped the day before on October 8. The ostensible reason was to talk about O'Reilly's latest book, Who's Looking Out For You? The book is about, among other things, the claim that America is in the midst of what O'Reilly calls a "cultural war between left and right." And he says the battle is being fought in bookstores by pitting sales of his book against those by liberals.
'Openly Hostile!'
In the Fresh Air interview, the tone was intense from the beginning. By the end of the interview, O'Reilly said he found Gross' line of questioning objectionable and hostile. He walked out of the interview, but not before he accused Gross of conducting the interview "in attack mode" and "full of typical NPR liberal bias." He also told her to "find another line of work."
Knowing that the interview would air the next day, O'Reilly used his October 8 television program to alert his viewers about what would happen the next day on NPR (Bill O'Reilly's Web site).
Here is the interview as it aired on NPR's Fresh Air.
As Gross mentioned in the interview, Bill O'Reilly was invited on Fresh Air in part because of his new book. She began by asking O'Reilly to respond to accusations made against him in a book by Al Franken, the politically liberal comedian. Franken's book, Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right, is devoted in part to going after O'Reilly's credibility and his conservative opinions. In his book and on Fresh Air, Franken accuses O'Reilly of mistakes, distortions and outright lies.
Gross interviewed Franken two weeks previously on her program.
For some listeners, the interview with O'Reilly was a continuation of Franken's anti-conservative and anti-O'Reilly attacks.
'Biased and Prejudicial... '
Listener Michael Moritz's e-mail was typical of the more restrained comments:
NPR, you're not going to like this, but I have to say that O'Reilly... was correct: throughout the first 50 minutes of the interview, Terry Gross was clearly focused on discussing the popular left-wing (mis)perception of O'Reilly, misguided though it is, and not substantively dealing with his new book. I thought her interview was extremely biased and prejudicial. I was very disappointed with her transparently obvious agenda -- she's usually much more capable.
From Daniel Kennedy:
Terry needs to apologize to Bill for that interview. She's a much better interviewer than what I just heard from her. I was embarrassed for her. Bill worked up a real head of steam at the end, but he had taken it for long enough. We never did really hear about his book... P.S. I like BOTH of their shows and listen/watch when I get a chance.
'Bullying... hostility'
Robert Black was one of the few who thought Terry Gross' interview worked:
Thank you for the excellent O'Reilly interview. He quickly demonstrated his bullying tactics and hostility, proving himself to be an ass.
In my opinion, Terry Gross did a very tough interview. It was quite unlike many interviews on NPR where the tone is civil but often unchallenging of the guest.
Danny Miller is the executive producer of Fresh Air. I asked him if he thought the critics have a point:
Terry was tough on O'Reilly, not unfair. And I think O'Reilly drove the interview directly towards the conclusion he was hoping for. He was looking to butt heads. He's obviously still really steamed that the case against Franken was thrown out of court -- and came to our interview with the expressed goal of demonstrating his belief that NPR has a liberal bias, and that Fresh Air (like Franken) was out to defame him. On his own show he said: "I'll go on this program [Fresh Air] just to show you what they do, to expose what they do. Cause I knew what was going to happen... " It's pretty difficult to for an interviewer to maintain a high level of rapport with someone who wants to prove that you're out to get them.
O'Reilly is one of the most controversial and powerful broadcasters in the country -- Terry asked him about how he uses that power to pursue issues, and settle scores with his critics. Terry wouldn't have been doing her job if she didn't address that (which is why she brought up the Janet Maslin and People magazine pieces). And O'Reilly is smart enough to know it.
Even so, I agree with the listeners who complained about the tone of the interview: Her questions were pointed from the beginning. She went after O'Reilly using critical quotes from the Franken book and a New York Times book review. That put O'Reilly at his most prickly and defensive mode, and Gross was never able to get him back into the interview in an effective way. This was surprising because Terry Gross is, in my opinion, one of the best interviewers anywhere in American journalism.
Although O'Reilly frequently resorts to bluster and bullying on his own show, he seemed unable to take her tough questions. He became angrier as the interview went along. But by coming across as a pro-Franken partisan rather than a neutral and curious journalist, Gross did almost nothing that might have allowed the interview to develop.
By the time the interview was about halfway through, it felt as though Terry Gross was indeed "carrying Al Franken's water," as some listeners say. It was not about O'Reilly's ideas, or his attitudes or even about his book. It was about O'Reilly as political media phenomenon. That's a legitimate subject for discussion, but in this case, it was an interview that was, in the end, unfair to O'Reilly.
The "Empty Chair" Interview
Finally, an aspect of the interview that I found particularly disturbing: It happened when Terry Gross was about to read a criticism of Bill O'Reilly's book from People magazine. Before Gross could read it to him for his reaction, O'Reilly ended the interview and walked out of the studio. She read the quote anyway.
That was wrong. O'Reilly was not there to respond. It's known in broadcasting as the "empty chair" interview, and it is considered an unethical technique and should not be used on NPR.
I believe the listeners were not well served by this interview. It may have illustrated the "cultural wars" that seem to be flaring in the country. Unfortunately, the interview only served to confirm the belief, held by some, in NPR's liberal media bias.
It left the impression that there was something not quite right about the reasons behind this program: Bill O'Reilly often loves to use NPR as his own personal political piñata; and NPR keeps helping him by inviting him to appear.
A letter to Terry Gross from Prof. Rosa Maria Pegueros summed it up well:
I have been enjoying and learning from your show for more years than I can count, but I have to make one small criticism. Please consider it a word from a friend.
I was astonished that you had Fox's Bill O'Reilly on. I have never been able to tolerate more than a few moments of his programs. Having had a few students who came in quoting him and putting his opinions in their papers, I do know his opinions, but all his on-air shouting is unsupportable. That being said, I really think you were baiting him. Not that what you were saying was wrong or inaccurate but I had to wonder what possessed you to choose him? I guess one could say that he walked into enemy territory but I think it couldn't end any other way. Either you were going to corner him and make him admit the things that have been written about him or he was going to walk out once he realized what you were doing. I heard you do something similar with Gene Simmons. I can't believe that you didn't know how he'd react to your questions.
These louts and loudmouths deserve being embarrassed in public, I guess. But to hear you do it is somewhat unsettling. I would expect that if YOU ever went on his program, he'd do something similar to you. I guess what I'm saying is that I expect them to be that way and am generally glad that you aren't.

The Joe Schmo Show finale was last night, and it was pretty good. I don't like how Spike TV executives kept going to break everytime ANYTHING significant happened, it totally screwed up the entire thing, that they kept going to commercial when something was taking place, like they were at some big dramatic moment, when they really weren't...and they overdid it a bit with the tense sounding music and the going quickly back and forth between the cast members...way too quickly, at that. The stuff that happened on the show was nice tho, so that's good.
Like the true gentleman he is, Matt didn't get mad...he smiled, and he laughed, he cried, and he thanked everyone. He went on about how he was going to take the $100, 000 they gave him and give part of it to his parents and hire some financial consultant and invest the money wisely for his future and his family's future...plus, he talked about how he just wanted to go home for a while to see his mom and dad, sister, nieces and nephews, and his buddies he plays basketball with. It was all really touching, proving, once again that Matt is, indeed, the nicest guy you could ever imagine meeting.
I couldn't help but sit there and cry and clap along with the actors who were telling him how great he was, and how much they loved him...it's hard not to just fall in love with the guy yourself as you watch him for however many weeks it's been...something like 3 months, I guess. He's just a straight shooter, always looking out for the small guy, always defending his friends in the house, seemingly knowing the right thing to do all the time...just a really genuine, sweet all around guy. I think anyone would be lucky to have this guy as a friend. I couldn't even begin to say enough good things about him.
Anyhow, like I said, it was really touching the way he talked about the whole experience- how he was feeling down in his life, and his buddies invited him along to play basketball at that gym, and the next thing he knows- some guy is asking him if he wants to be on a reality show...being the ham he is, he acted silly for the camera, and eventually, he was chosen. He came out, met all these great people, had an experience of a lifetime, and now- he actually believes it when people say that your life can change and good things can happen. It was just so great to see the guy so happy.
In the contest- The Hutch won the phony $100, 000...but, Ralph (the host) got a message in his ear piece, and the fake Spike TV executive came out and talked to him one on one, while balloons fell from the ceiling, and everyone celebrated- except for Matt, who stood there with a confused look on his face.
Ralph said that everything had to be reset, because someone in the room wasn't who they said they were. He asked if anyone had anything to say, and The Hutch came forward, and said- 'okay...I'm not who you think I am. My name is really David Hornsby, and I'm an actor.' Ralph said that he ruined the entire game by lying...then Hutch pointed to Kip, and said that he needs to come clean too. Kip lost the cuban accent and the 'gay' accent, and said- Okay, I'm an actor too, but everyone else needs to come forward too. So, Matt is totally confused by now, wondering what on earth is going on. So, Kip tells everyone who is an actor to raise their hands, and everyone but Matt does so.
Matt is more confused than he's ever been in his life, I'm sure...you can see what a shock it is to him by looking at his face. He confronts his buddy, Brian, and Brian tells him that everything he has told him about himself and his life is all true and that he really is his friend. Matt tells him to come clean- are you an actor? He tells him that he is, and then it goes from there...all smiles pretty much, after Matt got over the initial shock of it all.
They gave him all the prizes that were won by others throughout the show- a 7 day trip to a spa in Utah, a trip to Tahiti, a plasma screen tv, and the check for $100, 000. They also mentioned to Matt that the next night, he would be going to the Spike TV kickoff party at the Playboy Mansion, which he seemed to be happy about.
I'm glad for Matt, and I hope that he goes far...hopefully, we might see more of him on TV in some capacity. I'm sad to see the show ending, and maybe there will be a season 2...but, from my thoughts now, I don't think a new season could compare to this one, plus the idea just isn't fresh now, and I'm sure they would need an all new cast, and I'm not so sure I would like that all that much.
This was brought to my attention by someone who visits my site...
Father, I lift up to You my kids. I don't know where their hearts lie, but You do. Please help them to do the right thing and follow You. God, I ask that You open the eyes of Bozeman. Bless him and keep him and help him to serve You first. Please bless Lisa who has endured so much. Touch her, Lord and guide her life. posted on churchgirl.net
I love it! I love so many things about it. I love how this person is mentioning me on her site...I'm glad to see I have an effect in people's lives. I'm just touched.
Secondly, I love how she lumps me in a blessing with Lisa...I suppose it's the same Lisa. And, I really love how she says that Lisa has "endured" so much...not sure if she's trying to say she endured so much with me or not, but I wouldn't doubt it.
If that's the case- just for everyones' reference...I dated Lisa from Sept 2001- March 2003. You know what? Since this was posted and someone is trying to paint me in a negative light, I'll tell the story.
Lisa lives in California...I live in Indiana. I first met her thru match.com years and years ago...she put down that she was 18, she was really 16. We talked on AOL, we talked on the phone...we got close, we said I love you. We lost contact, but then we got back in touch with each other. We lost contact again, we talked again on the phone (a number of times) and lost contact again. I emailed her in 2001...we started talking a lot in September 2001, she started calling me from college, we started "dating." We became really close really fast, and she got a cell phone so she could call me everynight. We talked for hours a day, talked online during the day, I got up and talked to her before she went to class, I talked to her on the phone after 9PM when it was free, etc etc. We started saying I love you, we both meant it (so I thought!), She was dealing with an anxiety issue, and she dropped out of school after christmas break 2001. She had mentioned her issue several times, and I had tried to talk to her about it, and give her advice, help her however I could. She was scared to death to tell her parents about it, and that she was scared to go back to school...I talked her into telling them about it and she didn't go back. So, we talked ALL the time. I got a job in 2002, started working 3rd shift...when I wasn't at work, we talked online or on the phone. We talked about everything, we became best friends, we talked about marriage, talked about me coming out there to see her or her coming here to see me, we talked about making plans and getting a place together- all of that stuff. We were in love.
So, I was going to get another, better job, but it fell thru, and I had quit my job I had to go to the training for the new job, so I was out of a job...so we had even more time than ever to talk. Her problem started to get worse...and she wouldn't talk to her parents about it. I have my own issue with social anxiety, which wasn't great itself. So, we started talking about me getting a place and her coming to live with me or me going there, or whatever...but, she kept telling me- my dad says you have to save this much money from each paycheck, and I tried to explain to her, we could barely live in a place of our own on ONE INCOME, let alone have money to put back every single month! She kept going on and on about her parents always save and they buy all their new cars with cash (which is unheard of!!), and she thought I should be the same way. She couldn't work, she said, so I had to make at least X amount of dollars each month to take care of us. Even if she COULD work, she said she wouldn't...she would rather be the type of woman who stays at home and takes care of the house and that stuff. So, eventually, I said to myself- we're never gonna be together, because I have to save THIS much money every month, find an impossible job making $15 an hour, etc. So, I had started talking to an ex of mine, and I broke it off with Lisa and got back with her...planning on getting a place together. It's not something I wanted 100%, but I thought being with someone would help me get over my own anxiety issue, and the way things were going- no way in hell Lisa was coming here to be with me, and I'd be the only person ever making money ever in our relationship. So, in the summer of 2002 we broke up for a bit, but we got back together. Things weren't perfect- when is anything ever perfect? But, we loved each other, we looked out for each, we shared the same basic personalities, we complimented each other perfectly. We rarely fought, we got along pretty well, and we were truly best friends AND lovers.
So, Lisa meets this Wes guy online...32 years old, has a son...he starts hitting on her. I had her passwords (she had mine too) and I noticed in her mailbox that Wes was saying "My Lisa," that he missed her and that he was falling for her, and all of this stuff. Then, I saw e mails she sent to him where she said she can't believe she feels this way about him and talking to him, and how she feels like a silly little girl, and all of this stuff that just totally broke my heart. I confronted her about it, and she said sorry, no big deal basically...I asked her not to talk to this guy on the phone anymore, please. She said okay...but, she kept talking to him. Church (who wrote the crap I posted above) comes to both of our sites, telling Lisa (on Lisa's site) that Wes is Lisa's man, and that I'm horrible, and this and that- both her and Ashley going on and on about how great Wes is, and how they should get together, even telling others who came to the site that Wes was a great catch and that he was WITH Lisa...
So, she kept talking to this guy, he posts on his blurty.com journal that this special woman he met online talked him into starting this journal, referring to Lisa. All of this crap.
Anyhow, in March of 2003...near the time all of this was happening, Lisa says she needs a break from the relationship- that she feels the same way, she loves me, is IN love with me, nothing has changed, but she needs to deal with her anxiety issue. I didn't really take it too seriously, since we still talked like normal, we still said I love you's all the time, we were the same...Plus, I told her that no one takes a break, they only say that when they want to break up, but want to lessen the blow or whatever. She promised this wasn't the case.
In April sometime, she got all serious all of a sudden and said it was over. She said that she still loved me and was IN love with me, but it was over for now...she didn't know when she could be in a relationship again. This was very sudden and very shocking to me, of course. I was floored.
So, her story changed into us not being right for each other...and she refused to really answer any of my questions. Why do you suddenly feel this way after nearly 2 years? Why do you think we're not the ones for each other? All of that stuff...she just wouldn't answer...just said, this is how I feel, sorry, the end.
Eventually, she told me that she couldn't be with me because I have social anxiety and that since she had anxiety, it was like two drug addicts together...
She then changed her story to - I do LOVE you, but I'm not IN love with you. Then, that changed to- I love you as a friend only. Then, that changed to, I don't love you, but we're still best friends, and I just see you as a friend and nothing more...that changed to, fuck you Josh- you have no right to call me. Sorry, Josh- I'm not attracted to you, I don't have any feelings for you, etc.
This was a hellish few months...where she told me one story, then changed it to another, then changed that one to the first one, then changed that one to a brand new story...all of these lies and all this deceit- swearing it had nothing to do with Wes, and that it was all just odd timing...swearing she had loved me all this time, but she just changed..sorry, that's that.
Well, of course, I wasn't very nice to her. I would say I'm sorry and that I regret being rude to her, but I don't at all. When someone wastes two years of your life and totally fucks you over, I say you have every right to be rude to them. She totally threw me out like old gargabe, totally disregarding my feelings that she was supposed to have wanted to protect, since she supposedly loved me and all for years and years...I say, when someones treats you like shit- don't kiss their ass. She cried a few times? So what...I cried a few million times for days on end. Why? Not because of anything I did...but because of everything SHE did.
So, now...I don't even talk to Lisa at all. She talks to her little friend Brian and the bitch, Ashley- who can't be your friend if you're a christian, 'cause she's a nice ol' athe*st! I tried calling her and being nice, telling her that I heard she was back in school and working and all this stuff- I DID find it kind of odd that she claimed she was so full of anxiety, yet she gets rid of me like trash, then she's suddenly ALL better! You know what she told me? She told me I had no right to ever call her or talk to her. You know why? Because I emailed her and asked her if she would send me my CSI video tapes back, and she wouldn't answer. I sent another e mail, and a third- these are MY tapes I let her borrow...tapes I spent hours putting together, and I simply wanted them back. She refused to send them back or even simply reply to my request...so, I e mailed her parents and asked them nicely to ask Lisa to send my stuff back. THAT'S why she won't talk to me ever again...THAT'S why I have "no right to call her" or talk to her. Ballsy, right? I thought so too.
So...in the end, I say- screw you Lisa, you're a selfish bitch who cares ONLY about yourself- you proved that time and time again the final few months there...you refused to be honest with me in April, you kept changing your story, you promised we'd talk one night, then you'd totally ditch me...I'd call you to see why you weren't online and you were on the phone with Wes, and refused to get off...I asked you time and time again to tell Shannon and Ashley to shut up, because they wouldn't stop talking badly about me and going on and on about you and wes being together and in love and so on- you refused, you said that you couldn't confront people very well. What happened in the end? You told me (your supposed BEST FRIEND) to fuck off and you STILL talk to your FRIEND Ashley.
So, I guess in the end of it all- screw you Lisa, screw you Churchy and athe*st girl too. They caused a lot of the shit in March and April on the tagboards, and for that- they can go to hell...you, on the other hand, wasted two years of my life. Years I could have been with someone else and made a real relationship...years I could have done any number of things. But, no...you wasted my time, you lied to me, you treated me like garbage instead of your best friend, and now I don't have any right to talk to you?! Hilarious!...Hell yes, I have every right to say screw you to Lisa and I have every right to feel the way I do. I might not have been the nicest guy to her when she kicked me to the curb out of the blue, but I've never done anything that is half as bad as the stuff she's done to me. So, whatever the hell that selfish bitch has had to endure, I've no idea...she's not bothered by ANY of this, I, on the other hand, having a heart and soul, am bothered by the situation. It's hard as hell to deal with, and it still haunts my dreams every now and then. I'm the one who wakes up from a nightmare where my girlfriend is calling me up to tell me she doesn't love me...not her. So, screw that nonsense. Someone has something completely backwards here, kids!
Now, you all know the story, and you can make your own judgement as to what poor innocent little Lisa has had to endure and what utter misery she has gone through. Everyone say awww for poor little Lisa, now...
Okay, I'm done going off on my huge rant there...sorry it's so long and detailed, but it's nice for any new friends I make to know the story that has become such a big part of my life the past several months...and, I feel as tho I need to defend myself in a way, because I don't really want people blessing me with false kindness, and claiming that others have endured hardships due to me, when anyone sane person knows that that's complete bullshit. Shannon and Ashley both can KEEP talking to Lisa and be good friends with her, and they can pass along a big fuck you from me.
Oh, just a tad bit more info, which I think is quite humorous. THIS is an entry I posted on my own blurty months ago about the situation...I pasted Lisa's own blurty entry in the entry of mine (a note about that- she made her blurty friends only and added, guess who? Wes and Ashley! When I asked her if I (her best friend) could be added, guess what she said? Nope. It's private...which meant private to her, Ashley, Wes, and one other girl. And I'M the bad guy, right?
-------------------------------------------
Also- here is something Lisa posted in some community on Livejournal. You can imagine not talking to someone you spent years of your life with, then seeing that they feel this way about your relationship. It's great to see how people REALLY feel about ya!
Hello ladies. I'm Lisa. I'm 20, and live in southern California. I'm newly single after getting out of a horrible long distance relationship that lasted way too long. I moved away to college straight out of high school, but dropped out and came home for more reasons than I can list. That was a while ago, so I'm pretty far behind. That makes me feel like a huge failure in life. I'm going back this fall, so hopefully that will be cured.
I'm new to having a live journal, and I just found this while browsing around. Looking forward to reading more.
Both of the above just further show you her true colors...her true character. You really get to see how people can suddenly turn on you without any notice. It's scary, and that's a chance we all have to take, I guess, but it sucks, and it's not right. I don't flip flip on people, so I don't think it's unfair to expect the same from them.
Tonight is the finale of The Joe Schmo Show. I'm really looking forward to it...
Joe Schmo

This is yet another reason why average people cannot stand a lot of people in Hollywood. Forget the fact that most of them act like spoiled rich a-holes.
Bullock (in the story below) says (her friends say at least) she is in love and ready to marry the guy who JUST got divorced? Sounds like they were both involved in an extra-marital affair. I could be wrong, but it seems this is the way it was...which is just sad. I mean, divorce is all over the place, but it seems like very few in Hollywood can keep their you know whats in their pants...sleeping around all over town, getting married- divorced- married- divorced, etc. I just wish that people in general, and especially celebs would turn their brains on and take relationships (especially marriage!) serious. This could all be a bogus tabloid story, who knows...but- if it is the case, then I just think that celebrities need to try a bit harder to lead by example. Not that I think all celebs should be role models (I certainly wouldn't want Sharon Stone teaching any kids I might have in the future!)
Sandra Bullock Finds Love with Lance Armstrong
Actress Sandra Bullock has reportedly found love with cycling superstar Lance Armstrong. Bullock is so besotted with the sportsman - who split from his wife last month - she wants to settle down with him. A pal says, "She is absolutely smitten. She really believes Lance could be the one. He's successful, determined, a survivor and, let's not forget, gorgeous." The romance with Lance - who fought off testicular cancer to win every Tour De France since 1999 - puts paid to rumors of Sandra's supposed relationship with actor Matthew McConaughey. The friend adds, "Up to now, Sandra has always gone back to Matthew, but Lance has changed all that." An eyewitness, who saw the new couple enjoying a romantic dinner together in a Manhattan, New York, diner, comments, "They were all over each other. She was rubbing his thigh and he was massaging her shoulders. At one point they even started feeding each other."
Two great quotes from tonight's episode of 10-8: Officers on Duty
Gabriela (Christina Vidal): "You can't make someone love you. .....best you can do is stalk them, and hope they panic and give in."
Rico (Danny Nucci): "They say it's to have loved and lost is better than to have never loved at all....well, that's crap"
Totally different subject-
I'm gonna go as a white van for halloween and ask kids if they wanna get in and help me find my puppy.
That's so my new quote, and I made it up, so you can't use it. Comic genius!
I was shocked to see the quotes and reaction to the anti-jewish statements made by this pinhead. I was really shocked to see that Afghan President Karzai praised the remarks, and that some of our supposed allies did the same thing. Like I have said numerous times, the 'muslim world' has to stop praising and supporting terrorism before they can ever come out of the standstill they are in. The muslim world, as a whole, is fairly archaic in comparsion to modern nations, and that includes their society and way of thinking. Until they denounce terrorism and stop supporting fools that speak out like this, they will never be equal. As usual, Jacoby picked another great subject to write about.
BIGOTRY AND THE MUSLIM WORLD
By Jeff Jacoby
The Boston Globe
Thursday, October 23, 2003
For months following the atrocities of 9/11, US officials from President Bush on down repeatedly declared that Islam is a religion of peace and that no American should think ill of Muslims or their religion because of the terrorist attacks. In fact, Bush said, any Americans who would lash out at Muslims or attempt to intimidate them "represent the worst of humankind, and they should be ashamed of that kind of behavior."
The president had occasion to return to the subject of religious bigotry this week, but it was Muslim hatred -- not hatred of Muslims -- that decency required him to condemn. At a gathering in Thailand, Bush made a point of telling Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad that he had been "wrong and divisive" when he uncorked a toxic rant against the world's Jews last week. Bush's conversations with foreign leaders are not usually publicized, but this time the White House spokesman related the president's words: "It stands squarely against what I believe in."
Mahathir delivered his diatribe at an Islamic summit meeting on Oct. 16. His theme was the anti-semite's timeless plaint: The Jews are few but crafty, and the world is in their grip.
"The Europeans killed 6 million Jews out of 12 million, but today the Jews rule the world by proxy," Mahathir told the leaders of 57 Muslim nations. "They get others to fight and die for them." He lamented that Jews are an enemy "who think. They survived 2,000 years of pogroms not by hitting back, but by thinking. They invented . . . socialism, communism, human rights, and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong -- so they may enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries. . ."
And how should the world's Muslims deal with the Jews? Mahathir urged them to learn from Mohammed's example -- to buy time by making "strategic retreats" and signing peace accords, then building up their strength until they are ready to launch a "counter-attack" that will lead to "final victory."
Mahathir's Judeophobia is an old story. More than 30 years ago, he wrote: "The Jews . . . are not merely hook-nosed, but understand money instinctively." He has blasted Jews as "monsters"; in 1994 his government banned the movie "Schindler's List" for being too pro-Jewish. When the Malaysian currency collapsed in 1997, Mahathir blamed it on George Soros, an American investor. "We do not want to say that this is a plot by the Jews," he thundered at a rally, "but in reality it is a Jew who triggered the currency plunge -- and coincidentally Soros is a Jew."
The Bush administration, no doubt for diplomatic reasons, tried to cast Mahathir's latest screed as simply the invective of a lone bigot. "The comments were hateful," National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice told reporters, but "I do not think they are emblematic of the Muslim world."
If only that were true. Unfortunately, while many in the West voiced outrage at Mahathir's poisonous remarks, the Muslim world's reaction ranged from utter indifference to hearty approval.
The audience to whom Mahathir spoke -- the presidents, kings, and emirs of the nations that make up the Organization of the Islamic Conference -- rewarded him with a standing ovation. The applauders included not only the Muslim world's dictatorial fanatics, but also its reputed moderates, including President Megawati Sukarnoputri of Indonesia, General Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, and Jordan's King Abdullah.
Even America's Muslim allies and clients admired Mahathir's views. The foreign minister of Egypt -- a country that receives $2 billion a year in US aid -- pronounced the speech "a very, very wise assessment." Hamid Karzai, the US-installed president of Afghanistan, praised it as "an eye-opener to a lot of us and . . . what the Islamic world should do."
Mahathir's speech raised no storm of controversy among Muslims because the Muslim world by and large has no problem with anti-semitism. Even in the United States, there was virtually no repudiation of Mahathir's venom by American Muslim leaders. A Nexis search turns up just one mild quibble: When CNN invited the head of CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, to comment, he said only that he doesn't believe Jews run the world, "so I see that statement as a misguided opinion."
On Tuesday, I asked six American Muslim organizations -- CAIR, the American Muslim Association, the Islamic Circle of North America, the Islamic Institute, the Islamic Society of North America, and the Muslim Public Affairs Council -- whether they had any reaction to Mahathir's words. Three never replied; two replied by saying they had no comment. Only MPAC condemned Mahathir -- in a press release posted a few hours after my query -- for his "extremely offensive, anti-semitic comments."
The Muslim world suffers from many problems, but none is more crippling than its culture of intolerance. Rampant anti-semitism anywhere is always a sign of grave moral sickness. Until more Muslims are prepared to confront and conquer that sickness in their midst, the Muslim world will remain the benighted backwater that so many Muslims deplore.

Below is Jerry Falwell's latest article...very timely as well.
I was frankly disgusted to hear about this line in the script- where they try to paint Reagan as a heartless jerk, but that's Hollywood, I guess. They make a movie that should be sticking to the facts, yet they try to demonize him, clearly because he's a republican, and no other reason.

SMEARING REAGAN
On Thursday morning's "Today" broadcast, NBC reporter Jill Rappaport
interviewed actor Ed Harris about his new movie, "Radio." The film recounts
the real-life relationship between a high school football coach who creates
local controversy by recruiting a mentally-challenged teenager as the team
mascot.
"Since it's a true story," Ms. Rappaport said to the actor, "you've got a
lot of responsibility there."
Well, that stands to reason.
But somebody needs to alert CBS to the fact that there does indeed need to
be some sense of responsibility and accountability when documenting a true
story on film.
Next month, the network will broadcast the controversial miniseries "The
Reagans," which stars leftist actors James Brolin (husband of the
spelling-challenged singer/activist Barbra Streisand) and Judy Davis in the
roles of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.
A script of the two-part movie has been revealed on several Internet news
sites. It exposes the malicious sentiment the network (and most of
Hollywood, for that matter) has for Mr. Reagan.
The most controversial element of the script has the dearly loved president
discussing the AIDS crisis. In the film, when Mrs. Reagan encourages him to
help AIDS victims, Mr. Reagan reportedly responds, "They that live in sin
shall die in sin."
Anyone who ever knew President Reagan knows that such language would never
emanate from this heroic man. While Reagan detractors enjoy portraying him
as a bumbling and unfeeling man, the truth is he was a compassionate and
respectful leader who would be taken aback by such language. (In fact, not
even a wild-eyed religious radical like me has ever made such a blatantly
horrific statement.)
Nevertheless, CBS officials are predictably touting their allegedly unbiased
approach to the Reagan miniseries.
"The miniseries is a compelling and historical account of Mr. and Mrs.
Reagan's remarkable relationship set against the backdrop of the former
president's political career," the network said in a statement. "The film
has been meticulously researched and offers a respectful and balanced
portrayal of the Reagans."
So Mr. Reagan will be depicted as a cold-hearted ogre and the network
explains this as a reverential portrayal of the man? That's nice.
In addition, the movie will reportedly ignore the remarkable economic growth
fostered under the Reagan administration that began in 1982 and carried on
for several years.
It's really no wonder that people are abandoning network television in
droves. The lack of respect for a revered leader like Ronald Reagan is
reflected in the networks' disregard for television viewers who are
force-fed a steady diet of gratuitous sex, lewd sexual dialogue,
superfluous violence and preachy leftist politics.
I wonder if network execs really believe that American television viewers
are wholly comprised of sex-obsessed leftist operatives who want to see
President Reagan denigrated?
I can't think of another explanation.
The New York Times reported this week that some network officials, true to
form, are actually questioning the trustworthiness of Nielsen Media
Research - the organization that monitors television viewership - instead of
addressing the quality of show they are putting out while they attempt to
determine why far less people are tuning into their shows.
It all makes sense in a weird sort of way.
Network officials live in a closed culture where conservatives are perceived
as villains and traditional families - who are starving for quality
television - are discounted as irrelevant.
Under this scenario, Ronald Reagan - a hero to most conservatives and
traditionalists - would obviously be presented as a mean-spirited malefactor
by the networks.
What's the solution? Write to CBS and considerately explain your
disappointment with "The Reagans" miniseries. Until our side gets
proactive, we can't expect things to change. Besides, I think Mr. Reagan
earned our support and writing to defend his legacy is the least we can do
for him.

I checked out a few books from the library a couple days ago, and I bought two books at The Dollar General store tonight for a dollar each. I decided I wanted to share them:
Library books:
High Crimes and Misdemeanors by Ann Coulter
The Final Days: The Last, Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House
Conquering Panic and Anxiety Disorders
Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe: Working Through Social Anxiety
Books I bought:
High Lonesome Road by Betsy Thornton
Hellstorm (from the 'Talon Force' series) by Cliff Garnett
I've started reading the Ann Coulter book, and will probably read the other Clinton book next...and I'll probably need to read the anxiety books at the same time I read the first two books, because I'm a somewhat slow reader.
The two books I bought sound really good, especially Hellstorm, which I read a few pages of earlier...about some top secret government military-like agency made up of a team from various branches of the armed forces, sent out to deal with terrorism. In this book, they're dealing with a sarin gas attack in Japan that has implications in a broader attack planned for Hawaii and possibly the mainland United States.
I still have Dead Man on Campus on VHS, and I'll surely watch it a couple more times before returning it...I also got Hotel De Love from the library- a movie that I had them order actually...I've seen it numerous times on tv, and it's pretty funny.
I just tried to eat a big piece of bubble gum with nerds candy embedded in it (nerds gumballs), but it hurt my teeth on the right side. That just sucks. I like nerds...I might try to get some boxes of nerds soon.
I never mentioned before that I saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and I liked it a lot. I actually saw it Monday by myself, and then went again with my brother Wednesday afternoon. I thought it was awesome, even better than the original which I'm a fan of (I've got it on DVD.) Pretty scary too, and there were a couple scenes that made me jump- of course, the kind of scenes where thinks pop out of nowhere, which are fun scenes if you ask me, so I'm not sure why so many people complain about this scare tactic. What other tactic makes you jump suddenly? Nothing that I can think of. The doggy was barking like crazy a minute ago, and I was looking out the screen door to see if anything was out there, and I was so just waiting to hear the chainsaw noise and see some huge guy standing there. I'll write a review for the movie soon...I still need to write one for The Ring. I was gonna wait till I saw Ringu (the original Japanese version), but I never watched it when I got it from the library. I will soon enough tho.
I want to see Scary Movie 3...looks pretty funny, and it comes out this weekend.
Okay...you know what doesn't make sense at all? People who talk about Jolt Cola like it's so full of caffeine that it would mess you up. Think about it, people, if it has twice the caffeiene as regular cola, then wouldn't one jolt be the same as drinking two cans of regular cola? Did you ever get messed up over 2 cans of cola? 3 cans? 4 cans? No, and ya know why? Cause for caffeiene to mess you up, you'd need to inject that shit right into your bloodstream! The end.
Fefe Dobson is really cute...especially in her video. This is the best pic I can find of her, so until I can download the video and get pics from it, this will have to do...
Her song isn't too bad itself...

Billboard magazine was right- how could you not love a woman named Fefe?
Two really good stories from Michelle Malkin.
First, a story about some postal regulation that forbids this American from sending Christian materials to his son in the military, fighting in Iraq...yet, they pay for Muslim clerics to come and preach to the terrorists being detained in Cuba. It's sad when you can't send your son who is defending his country christian material, yet we let these clerics come in and pump these terrorists up- you might remember that one such person was arrested recently and could be charged with treason...along with many other things he's already been charged with.
Second story is about the biggest race card player this side of Jesse Jackson- the man with one of the biggest egos on earth- Charles Moose and his nonstop claims of discrimination. The man is a paranoid idiot who loves the spotlight more than anything...a man who couldn't stop speaking to the cameras when he was police chief, and even quit that job, because he wanted to write a book about the whole sniper ordeal, despite the fact that the ethics guidelines, which he agreed to when he was hired, forbid him from profiting from his position in the department in this manner. He's out of that job now, so he could write and receive payments for his book on the sniper case, a book everyone involved with the case begged him not to write, because it could easily taint the case and damage the prosecution. I've talked about Moose and his paranoid wife before- who claim racism every ten seconds of their life...and Malkin has mentioned him before as well. The man is a disgrace to the human race.
Here's Jeff Jacoby's newest article...great stuff on a very important topic- one that is never covered like it should be. We keep hearing all this nonsense from Bush about a Palestinian state...but, like Jacoby says, and I have said before- why do we support a state for people who danced in joy on September 11? Israelis didn't dance in the streets and celebrate- their terrorists neighbors, the Palestinians did that. They are the ones who kill innocent men, women, and children on a regular basis...Jacoby is right in his analysis- we need to destroy the terrorist lead Palestinian Authority.
PALESTINIAN TERROR, AMERICAN BLOOD
By Jeff Jacoby
The Boston Globe
Sunday, October 19, 2003
http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/292/oped/Palestinian_terrorism_American_blood+.shtml
Three Americans -- John Branchizio, Mark Parson, and John Martin Linde -- were murdered last Wednesday when Arab terrorists in Gaza bombed the diplomatic convoy they were riding in. News accounts immediately described the attack as a first -- "an unprecedented deadly attack on a US target in the Palestinian territories," to quote the Associated Press. But Branchizio, Parson, and Linde were not the first Americans to be murdered by Palestinian Arab terrorists. They were the 49th, 50th, and 51st in the past 10 years alone.
A few hours after their deaths, the White House condemned "the vicious act of terrorism" that had killed them, extended "heartfelt condolences to the families," and promised "to bring the terrorists to justice." The families of the many previous US victims of Palestinian terror might reasonably wonder why there was no such presidential concern when *their* loved ones were massacred.
The president did not vow to see justice done, for example, when Dr. David Applebaum and his daughter Nava died, on the eve of what was to be Nava's wedding day, in the bombing of Jerusalem's Cafe Hillel last month. Or when Cleveland native Alan Beer was killed in a Palestinian bus bombing in June. Or when four Americans -- Marla Bennett of California, David Gritz of Massachusetts, Benjamin Blutstein of Pennsylvania, and Janis Coulter of New York -- lost their lives in the bombing of the Hebrew University cafeteria last year. Or when Shoshana Greenbaum, a New Jersey tourist, was among the 15 innocents slaughtered in the horrific Sbarro pizzeria attack of August 2001. Or when, three months earlier, 14-year-old Kobe Mandell of Silver Spring, Md., was one of two boys stoned to death in the cave where Palestinian terrorists found them hiking. Or in April 1995, when Brandeis University student Alisa Flatow was murdered in a Gaza terror attack.
Americans have been dying at the hands of Palestinian Arab terrorists for decades, yet the US government and media rarely if ever portray Yasser Arafat and his lieutenants as avowed enemies of the United States. The State Department does not demand the extradition of Palestinian killers of Americans, not even when the killers' identities and whereabouts are known. President Bush has never given the Palestinian Authority the same ultimatum he gave the Taliban in Afghanistan: Hand over the terrorists or be destroyed.
Instead he issues incoherent declarations like the one he made on Wednesday -- blasting the Palestinian Authority for refusing "to fight terror in all its forms," while assuring Americans that the US is "working closely with the appropriate officials" -- i.e., the selfsame Palestinian Authority -- to find and prosecute the terrorists responsible for the latest butchery. As if it isn't those very officials who have been aiding and abetting such butchery all along.
To hear Bush tell it, the deeper tragedy of terrorist acts like Wednesday's is that they are "an obstacle to achieving the Palestinian people's dream of statehood." What kind of state does Bush imagine would be created by the people who danced for joy on Sept. 11? How long is he going to keep up the pretense that terrorism represents a failure, rather than a core element, of Palestinian governance?
Arafat and the Palestinian Authority were quick to distance themselves from the murder of the three Americans. But violence against Americans is routinely celebrated by the PA. "During the war in Iraq," notes Itamar Marcus, the director of Palestinian Media Watch, "the PA actively endorsed the killing of Americans, and even produced a music video celebrating the deaths of US soldiers that was broadcast repeatedly on official PA TV." (An extensive compendium of anti-American hatred in the Palestinian media is posted at www.pmw.org.il.)
For years, sermons preached in Palestinian mosques and aired on Palestinian radio and television have rhapsodized about inflicting pain on the United States. "Oh, Allah, destroy America, for she is ruled by Zionist Jews," proclaimed Sheik Ikrima Sabri, the Arafat-appointed mufti of Jerusalem, in one such sermon. "O God, destroy the Jews and their supporters . . . destroy the United States and its allies," implored Sheik Ibrahim al-Mudayris in another. And from a third, Sheik Ahmed Abu Halabiya: "Have no mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. . . . Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them."
A few months ago, Palestinian officials renamed the central square in Jenin after Ali Jafar al-Na'amani, the Iraqi suicide bomber who killed four US Marines at a checkpoint in Najaf on March 29. *That* is what Arafat and the Palestinian Authority think of spilled American blood.
There is only one rational response to the murder of Branchizio, Parson, and Linde last week: the destruction of the Palestinian Authority, a network of killers masquerading as a government. If that doesn't happen, this much is sure: the 49th, 50th, and 51st Americans to lose their lives to Palestinian terror will not be the last.

Growing Economy Gaining Momentum
"Last month this economy exceeded expectations and added new jobs. Inflation is low. After-tax incomes are rising. Home ownership is at record highs. Productivity is high. Factory orders, particularly for high-tech equipment, have risen over the last several months. Our strategy has set the stage for sustained growth. By reducing taxes we kept a promise, and we did the right thing at the right time for the American economy."
--President George W. Bush, 10/16/03
As The Wall Street Journal editorial board announced this morning, "The good economic news keeps coming," and a newly released report from the Federal Reserve shows that it is coming in from across the country!
Jobless claims are at their lowest levels in eight months.
Employment grew by 57,000 in September.
Stock market values have increased $2 trillion in last ten months.
Disposable personal income is up 3.8%.
Homeownership is at record highs with a 68% ownership rate.
GDP growth is at 3.3% in the second quarter.
Productivity growth remains strong, which has bolstered profits.
Orders of manufacturing goods continue to increase.
Shipments and orders of durable goods increased this summer.
Nice article on the stupidity of Jessica Simpson.
Also, some in Hollywood are taking a stand against the ridiculous, overly paranoid ban on screeners by the MPAA.

LA FILM CRITICS ASSN. CANCELS ANNUAL AWARDS
No screeners, no awards per crix
Making its strongest possible statement on the issue currently
embroiling the Hollywood community, the Los Angeles Film Critics Assn.
has decided not to give its annual awards this year unless the Motion
Picture Assn. of America drops its ban on screeners.
I have been watching So Graham Norton for the past few nights, and I will probably try to catch it everynight. It's funny, because it's been on a million times on BBC America, and I have seen bits of it many times, but I have never really watched it. I have seen Graham on 2 episodes of Father Ted, and he's hilarious.
His show is pretty funny itself. It's a talk show format, sort of like late night talk shows here in the U.S.- but no big monologue and only one guest per show. Graham is totally gay- and he makes jokes about it all the time...the other night he was doing a biker scene where he was riding in the desert (via green screen behind him), and he talked about how he'd have to settle for Eric Clapton's cream. Point is- he's flaming, and that's just hilarious...plus, he's really good at what he does, so that doesn't hurt.
Anyhow, he had Sophia Loren on his show tonight...and Dennis Hopper on the other night.
I kept it on BBC America and the drama, The Vice came on...and, weird thing- first time I've seen nudity outside of a medical show on anything but premium television. I never knew they showed nudity on BBC America, I've sure never seen it before, but it was indeed odd seeing bare breasts in the strip club scene that started out the episode.
In December, a new season of Murder In Mind starts...a really good show about...well, about murder. I've seen 3 or 4 episodes of that show, and I like it a lot.
I also want to make sure I catch this series called My Hero that airs on BBC America...since it stars the guy who played Dougal on Father Ted.
I'm going to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre tomorrow, I guess...and I want to see Scary Movie 3 when it comes out the 24th. That movie looks hilarious- the scene in the previews where the guy with the voice box comes up to Leslie Nielsen and Ja Rule makes me laugh everytime I see it.
I want to see Rockapella in concert on Oct. 25th, tickets are $26...but, it's this arts center's 10th year gala celebration, and I'm not sure if tickets will still be available, and if I will even have the money to go...It's in Henderson, KY, which is like 10 minutes away, so I don't want to miss the opportunity to see them.
There is some movie about the theatre terrorist attack in Russia (the one that was in the news months and months ago)...on HBO. I need to find out when it airs...I saw it in The Week Magazine earlier today.
Check this out about haunted places in America...really, just hotels mainly, and basically an ad for expedia.com services. But, there are some other things on there too. Pretty cool.
Anyone see any good photos of Mary Carey, the porn star who was running for governor of California? She's actually really pretty. I saw a picture of her in The Week, and she's not too shabby.
Amazing how a good photographer and makeup artist can make an ugly girl look good. This is Moony (I think that's what she calls herself) and I think she's from Italy, but I'm really not positive. Her site is www.moony.it- so you figure it out.
I was watching XRM TV on winamp, and I saw one of her videos...

Below is Falwell's newest article, and it deals with God in public in the US...and the issue with In God We Trust, the motto, and the pledge of alleigance.
I'm listening to the most recent episode of car talk. Funny show...you can go to cars.com and listen to it for free. They were talking about how the CDC redefined light exercise- and they mentioned activities like sitting in a whirlpool (whew! tons of work...), doing light office work, playing computer games, etc. That's just weird. I finished Bill's book (Bill O'Reilly, that is), and it's pretty good...check it out if you can. I think it's now #1 on the NY Times Bestseller List.
My brother rented BOAT TRIP last night, and I was going to watch it, but I fell asleep. Roselyn Sanchez is hot. He got some free movie (to own) called HAPPY CAMPERS, which I'm going to watch sometime soon...fun.
I'm off to listen to Car Talk...

WILL GOD BE BANNED?
One nation, under God.
That's the diminutive phrase that got a California atheist so nervous he
filed a suit so that his daughter would not be compelled to repeat the
phrase at her California school.
Incredibly, the case got so far as the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
where a panel of judges actually agreed that "under God" is a violation of
the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
It still astonishes me that we have arrived at a point in our nation's
history that the mere mention of God's name - something our Founders
recurrently did as they established this religiously influenced nation - is
now seen as inappropriate and downright wrong.
Now, the U.S. Supreme Court has accepted a Justice Department appeal,
agreeing to take on the case, giving hope to the majority of Americans that
this simple, yet powerful, phrase will remain in the Pledge of Allegiance.
As I reported last year, the entire argument made by Michael Newdow - the
atheist who brought suit against the Pledge - was bogus from the onset. Mr.
Newdow claimed that his nine-year-old daughter (at the time) was offended
because she was required to make reference to God at school.
This was patently false.
When one of my staff members spoke with the girl's mother in California, she
explained that her daughter actually loved to recite the Pledge of
Allegiance in her Elk Grove school. She also said that the little girl was
an active member of her church and a professing Christian - hardly the rigid
atheist her father portrayed her to be.
But the truth rarely matters to those who want to purge the public square of
time-honored religious phrases that have been embraced by our nation's
leaders throughout history.
Nevertheless, the 9th Circuit, in a shameful decision yielding to secular
social trends and political correctness, found that God has no place in the
Pledge of Allegiance. School children, the court deemed, should function in
a Godless classroom devoid of any spiritual influence.
Those who respect the role of the Almighty in our nation's founding are
praying that the Supreme Court will determine that this small phrase - under
God - is not found to be an establishment of religion, but rather a simple
and respectful acknowledgment that God does indeed rule in the affairs of
men.
"We are committed to stand up to the outrageous decision by the Ninth
Circuit," said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, a
Citrus Heights, Calif.-based religious freedom organization, one of many
groups that will petition the Court in defense of the Pledge. "We are
already in the process of preparing to file a brief that will make it very
clear to the majority of the Supreme Court that the mention of the word
'God' in the Pledge of Allegiance is not a violation of the Constitution."
Jay Sekulow at the Virginia Beach-based American Center for Law and Justice
will also file a brief favoring the Pledge, representing 33 members of
Congress in so doing.
Mr. Sekulow said the phrase "one nation, under God" is a
"constitutionally-protected patriotic expression - not a blatant affirmation
of a particular faith."
He added, "The Pledge is part of an American tapestry of time-honored and
historically significant traditions that has come under attack. This case
represents an important opportunity to put a halt to a national effort aimed
at removing any religious phrase or reference from our culture. ... We're
hopeful the court will bring some clarity to this murky legal issue and
protect the freedom of our nation's students who wish to voluntarily recite
the complete and uncensored Pledge of Allegiance in school."
Many others will join the fight, including the 2.8 million member American
Legion and a host of other civic-minded groups.
Sadly, Justice Antonin Scalia - whom I believe to be the Court's most
discerning justice - will not participate in the appeal because he earlier
issued a blistering denouncement of the 9th Circuit's ruling.
Even without his wise influence, I believe the Court will understand the
significance of briefly recognizing God in a public forum such as a public
school classroom. Please join me in praying that the Court will uphold the
right of the people to publicly identify God as a significant part of our
history and our present society.
Just a quick note...many people (secularists) are trying to use the race card with their protest of traditional marriage week. I have seen a few banners and pics that talk about how marriage is about love and not race or gender or whatever. No one is claiming that race or gender or handicap should hold anyone back from marriage...they're simply stating that we don't want thousands of years of tradition to be flushed down the drain by those who live alternative lifestyles. Alternative to the norm, folks...which means what? Abnormal. Abnormal lifestyles is what we should call it, because that's what they are- but that would be offensive to some, so like pansies, we pander to the tiny minority trying to push their agenda on all of us. I don't understand why people who claim abnormal lifestyles want to be part of a group they don't belong in. We are all aware that religion is being attacked like crazy in this country, and throughout the world...but, as religious people, as Christians, we cannot allow those who want to steal our traditions and belief and perverse them to do so. We have things that are sacred, and other groups who demand to take part need to just stop...have your lives, live the way you want, but stop thinking that just because you do whatever you want (homosexuals basically have no one to answer to for the lifestyles- they surely don't have to answer to God, because I'm not aware of any god of any religion that allows homosexuality, and they don't answer to society, because society in general has voiced its opposition to these lifestyles) you can join in the traditions of everyone else. Being a man or woman of God does not make you a bigot. To all the idiots trying to use marriage week as a way to push your agenda, claiming racism and gender bias- get real. You are not Jesse Jackson...claiming racism where no racism exists is HIS job.
World Poker Tour on The Travel Channel wasn't very exciting tonight. They had a somewhat short round with the amateur players, then the pros played, then the winners of both faced off...I didn't even stay around till the end. O'Reilly wasn't on his show tonight, so I didn't watch that, but I watched Countdown with Olberman...well, I watched some of it. He's pretty funny, especially when he talked about catching a foul ball as a 14 year old...the same situation the guy had with the Cubs last night. I'm not sure if he was being serious or not, but it sounded real...How on earth do you crash a ferry boat, by the way? Weird.
Joe Schmo Tuesday night was tense...I wasn't sure if it was the finale or not. I checked some sites, and people were saying it was the finale, but it turns out the finale airs two weeks from this past Tuesday...Tuesday as in 2 days ago Tuesday. I'm too lazy to reach for the calendar right here to check what the finale date is. Anyhow, my heart was pounding the entire show, thinking they were going to reveal that the whole thing was a hoax...wondering how Matt would take it. For the first time, I felt bad for the guy...he's become so close to everyone in the house (well, most everyone), and now he's going to find out that their names are fake, their personas are fake, etc. Still- it's clear they have all come to care for Matt, and Matt them...and of course, we've all come to care about Matt at home too. He's just a great guy that anyone would be lucky to be around, which is the beauty of the show.
I was just dying, waiting to see what his reaction would be...but, the payoff never came, and it said 'to be continued.' I hate waiting two weeks to see the finale, but the GQ Men of the Year Awards will be in Joe's place next week. They say they want to make a second season of the show...if so, hopefully they can find someone who never knew about any of this, and they can bring the original cast back. I was actually said to see Kip go, because he's just a funny character. The Hutch is still in- and he's nearly as funny.
I added a few pieces of TV info on the Halloween page, but nothing to even check out really. I'm so lazy. I'm so going to eat some kettle corn in a second and watch...I dunno what I'll watch- maybe Threat Matrix from last week or Boomtown from 2 weeks ago...or Nosferatu which I taped from TCM...who knows.
The Cubs lost, which proves that they do not deserve a spot in the world series, which proves that the guy who caught the ball had nothing to do with anything, and those speaking harshly against him should get lives and hopefully hobbies.
I'm listening to O'Reilly's new book on CD right now...nifty.
Watched Wrong Turn last night on DVD...it was better in the theatre. All movies seem to be better in the theatre. I liked The Rookie in the theatre, but I'd probably never watch it on tv (I haven't once yet.)
Gina from The Joe Schmo Show is pretty hot if you ask me...and so is that Meena girl from Sorority Life. Black women are fine. So are brown women. I love their brownness...
I'm off...
If average frats and sororities are anything like the ones on MTV, then these shows, tho basically mindless television, could be a good lesson in how the world works. Anyone see how these idiots act in these organizations? The frat guys like to boss the pledges around and make them perform idiotic tasks...and the sorority girls are just catty bitches who seem to have the maturity level of 4th graders. I saw the last few minutes of the second show tonight, and the girls are telling one of the pledges that she can't stay in the house, and they want her out now. Not sure what she did, but come on, act like an adult. I just don't get how people can act like this on tv without batting an eyelash.
I can't watch these shows without being fascinated by how stupid these kids are. It's sometimes ALMOST as scary as watching that idiot Jessica Simpson.
To all the Cubs fans who are mad at this guy who caught the ball...get over it pansies. Yes...pansies. It's a friggin game. I wonder why ONE guy is getting all this harassment when you can clearly see at least 3 guys going for the ball? Just a bunch of drunken idiots who are obsessed with baseball who have to blame someone, because their favorite team SUCKS. I mean, come on guys...if your team was so good, one ball would have no effect on their winning or losing. Maybe they haven't been to the world series in forever, because maybe they're not worthy of a place in the game? Think about it, fools...
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre opens this Friday. I want to see it.

Who's going with me?
Here are some of the things I came up with for my platform.
I would work to scrap the INS and either form a brand new agency to deal with the borders, or I would add it to homeland security or another agency already present.
I would work to take private donors out of political campaigns. Too many politicans are elected, because they spend more money. We need men and women in government who are there for their ideas, not the fact that they spent millions more to get elected. I would start a program to publicly finance campaigns and I would work the FCC to give free air time to those running for office.
I would work to rehaul the General Accounting Office, making it an agency that overlooked every penny spent by Congress. Today they only get involved in emergencies, and there is no government agency that tracks that trillions spent by the federal government. I would make all records of spending public and easily accessible to all Americans.
I would work to cover the uninsured by taking the waste of government and putting the money to good use. This would include elimating crooks in Congress, and constant corruption that is involved with billions of dollars spent by the government.
I would work to overhaul NASA, one of the biggest wastes of money in government. The money spent to send probes to Mars (which surely doesn't aid the American people) could be spent in programs that actually help people. I would severely limit the money NASA gets, and scrap most of the manned space program for the time being.
I would work to overhaul social security.
I would work to overhaul the IRS and the entire federal tax code. I would drastically cut taxes, which could easily be done by bringing down spending in Congress.
I would work to change the regulations used in various welfare programs, and demand that people using these programs to meet strict criteria. Too many people take advantage of the system and abuse it, wasting money that could be spent elsewhere on worthwhile projects.
I'm having problems with my computer. My CD-RW hasn't been working in ages...the BIOS won't even detect it at all, and now my cd rom drive won't spin any of the discs I put in it. It worked yesterday, but today, nothing. I checked all the connections, deleted it from device manager, rebooted, tried various CD's, and no matter what I do, it just makes a weird tapping noise and then stops...won't even begin to spin. I need a new computer. The cd-rw, the cd rom, the weird gray lines I have on my screen that I can't seem to fix...I noticed gateway's cheapest computer is like $399.
Yahoo messenger won't stop freezing on me either. You can't even tell it's frozen, because the buddy list comes up fine...but, if you click the icon in the tray, all these messages I've missed come up all at once. It's weird.
Tell me Laura from Tech TV's Unscrewed isn't hot and cute all at the same time. I heart her.
I recorded that vampire movie, Nosferatu, on Turner Classic Movies last night, and Murder In Mind on BBC America tonight, as well as So Graham Norton, which is on right now. I'm watching Father Ted on DVD, which I got from the library again...seasons 1 and 3, and Sports Night season 2. I was GOING to listen to Bill O'Reilly read his new book- I have the book itself and the CD audio book checked out right now, but I want to hear him read it, so I will go that route. I want to scan some of the info. from the book as well and post it here. Like- did you know the House voted to totally abolish the INS and make immigration a part of Homeland Security? This afternoon, I was writing a political platform for myself...some ideas I would put into play if I ran for office, and one of my ideas is to scrap the INS and most of NASA, so that was odd seeing that the House had done the INS part already. The Senate buried the legislation tho, so nothing ever came of it. About the NASA thing...I would drastically cut funds to that agency and put the money to good use, instead of sending probes to take pictures of Saturn, which does NOT help the American people. Manned space flight, which is very expensive, would be scrapped for the time being as well. The money going to NASA could help find people jobs or help pay to better the U.S. education system, or pay for health care...ya know, important things that actually matter, as opposed to Pluto!
I would also rehaul the GAO (general acct. office) and make it that agency's responsibility to track every single penny Congress spends. Billions of dollars in tax money get wasted, and it's fine, because NO government agency tracks federal spending, which is just absurd to even think about. The GAO only gets involved in emergency situations, and that's very rare. I would set up a federal agency to track every penny spent, and reports of all the money spent would be easily accessible by every citizen who wants the information. That's one way to save billions- by making Congress accountable for their actions...making them responsible to show every cent they spend- I guarantee you, most of these useless pet projects they throw your tax dollars at would go out the door in a hurry. The money saved this way would be used to better fund government projects, and we'd be able to lower taxes. The government does NOT have a right to half of what you earn.
I'll tell you what else would save tons of money- wrangling in the welfare addicts. We need much stricter limits on who gets government handouts. Until the 1930's and 40's, the American people were forced to make it on their own...today, Congress would love nothing better than to give you whatever you want, essentially buying your vote in the process. We live in a country where you can make a good living and thru various loopholes still get foodstamps and a welfare check. You can basically refuse to get a job, have ten kids, then live off the American taxpayer. That's not right, and the money spent on these idiots could be used for worthwhile projects.
One final thing I would do- end private donations to political campaigns. This has become a country where the richest man wins elections. He who spends the most on campaigns wins. That's not right. Someone on MSNBC tonight said that there are over 40 millionaires in the Senate right now (it might be both the Senate and the House, but I think it's just the senate.) I'm sorry, but that's just not right. We need to set up a system that's fair and that has the best interest of the people as it's basis. We need a system that funds campaigns and puts a limit on how much can be spent...maybe, as I said, totally cut out private donations. When companies contribute to campaigns- the candidate is automatically tainted in my opinion- and who wins when that candidate takes office? Big business- especially business that helped get that man or woman into office in the first place. It shouldn't cost half a million dollars to run for president, let alone tens of MILLIONS.
Okay, I went on a rant there about politics. I think I'm going to shut up for now. Before I go...one question- Aria Giovanni, will you marry me? I'd even look past your very very hairy arms. Anyone see this girl's amateur pics? Her arms are just plain gross, and let's face it, without the ten pounds of makeup and airbrushing done in the professional stuff, her face is kinda sick looking too. You know what? I changed my mind...I'll find a different wife. If she really looked like she does in pics, I'd marry her, but I've seen her for real, and it's not a pretty sight!
It's October, my favorite month of the year, and that means Halloween is right around the corner. I have started the Halloween 2003 at The Blue Site page...I made a page last year with some information on various theme park scares around the country. This year, I will be adding haunted places around the country, local haunts here in Evansville and surrounding areas, costume ideas, party and decoration ideas, recipes for halloween related cookies and stuff, scary movies listings from tv, and a listing of movies coming to theaters soon. I will try to add as much information as possible, and I might have another contest this year like I did last year. We'll see...
Check out the Halloween at The Blue Site page. It's bare now, but I will work on it in the next few days...
First off- I want the Nicktoons Halloween DVD. Since Halloween is coming up soon.
Secondly- Hack was really good tonight. I have grown to love the new theme song and the new faster paced intro. I had to get the tapes out from season 1 to even remember the first season theme. I do miss the guy who played the priest tho, that was a cool part of the show...and I don't care much for the probation officer neighbor or Mike's who sorta replaces the priest character.
I have this past Threat Matrix episode on tape, waiting for me to watch it...from what I have seen, the show is getting really low ratings, so it probably won't last one season, let alone get a renewal for season 2! That's too bad, because I like it a lot. Speaking of that show- I never noticed until tonight, but those new Buick commercials with the old black and white guy (ghost like guy!) in them...the actor who plays the main male lead in Threat Matrix (I forget names right now), is actually in that commercial as a car designer guy or something. He's pretty cool if you ask me. The female lead in the show played Mrs. Kimball in the 2000 series (I think it was 2000), The Fugitive with Tim Daly.
I have been watching my tape full of Dr. Katz episodes a lot the last few days. I love that show. I just wanna find out if there was ever a halloween episode, and try to download it or get it on tape from someone. I always get lost in the world of Ben and Dr. Katz...like I'm a family member who is always there, but says nothing and is never seen. Animation can take you away from the real world like that.
When the Hack theme started up tonight, I was all tearing up. For real, it's weird maybe, but I do that sort of thing a lot. I just think it's so great how they have this story- starts out as a script on some paper...they turn that simple thing into a visual medium with great actors, great locations (the series is shot entirely in Philadelphia), great music, great camera work and direction...and in the end, you have this hour long (with commercials) journey thru the streets of the city as a story unfolds before you. It's just great how they have the intro scene, then the theme song starts up...and just the editing of the scenes over the theme music, and the names of the cast popping up when they come on the screen- all of it, it's just magical. I would give anything to be able to this stuff. To take some pieces of paper and turn the words on that paper into an episode of television magic. That thought gives me chills. Big chills. If I could spend everyday for the rest of my life making movies and television, creating art on the screen, making people laugh or cry, or scaring their pants off...just being able to make something that evokes such a wide range of emotions- I wouldn't need another thing in the world...maybe some food and something to drink (so I wouldn't die!), but other than that, life would be wonderful. Now, I just need to start the journey there...
Just think about it tho...movies and television. What else can make people feel so many things? What else out there can bring hundreds of people into an auditorium together week after week, and cause them to laugh, or to see things that make them cry (out of joy or pain), cause all these people to jump out of their seats from fright.
The world I know, the way I know people, the way I know life...most of it came from watching tv and movies. Movies and tv taught me how to act with a girl...how to be romantic, how to kiss, how to touch a woman, how to act in an interview, or what cool things to say to new people to make them laugh or to make them think you're nifty. I have learned more from these two mediums than I have from any other place in the world, and I bet most people would agree and say that they feel the same way. Movies and television- they touch people, they have a profound impact on the way we see things in this world, on the way we see the world itself. I dunno...both of these things are just completely magical to me, and I want more than anything to be part of that magic. So, that's that.
Another note about Mr. Bitter Bustamante. Did anyone hear his comments on election night to Arnold? Telling him that he's famous for making movies all around the world, and to keep doing that while he (Bustamante) takes care of things in California?
Can we stop the childish bickering? This guy clearly has no regard for the citizens of his state. He is going to have to work WITH Arnold, not AGAINST him like he is now. He's acting like a baby throwing a tantrum, because some other kid took his favorite toy. With people like Bustamante still in Sacramento, it's going to be hard to fix anything. Arnold did the right thing by saying he will reach out to Democrats, Republicans, those who votes for the recall, and those who voted against the recall. He has the right attitude...Bustamante proved why Davis was kicked out of office. People in California, and throughout the country are sick and tired of career politicans, who prove, time and time again, that there biggest priority is numero uno...screw their constituents. Advice to Bustamante- grow up, stop trying to divide the state, be a man for once.
I added a new movie review for the film, The First Five Million, starring my girlfriend, Rosario Dawson. (she doesn't know she's my girlfriend, but she's still my girlfriend dammit.)
I really liked this movie, so check out the review...even tho I don't think I write movie reviews very well, I like to write them, so...
I will be adding my review (my mixed review) of The Ring after I watch RINGU, the original Japanese film, which I have on DVD from the library right now.
O'Reilly was interviewed on Fresh Air on NPR (which is PBS' radio arm, funded by the taxpayers.)
O'Reilly walked out of the interview, because, like he said, Gross spent most of the time attacking him...putting O'Reilly on the defense. Gross was out of line, and she knows it. She claimed that none of this happened with Al Franken, because it was a "different" kind of interview. She spent the first 20 minutes trying to get Bill to make himself look bad, and she was supposed to interviewing him about his book! There was very little mention of his book at all in the interview, and Gross WAS unfair.
I will not be listening to NPR anymore, because of this and other problems I have with them. I will probably write a letter to Terry Gross (spelling?) who hosts the show and did this interview with O'Reilly.
You can go to www.billoreilly.com to hear the entire interview...the site links over to the fresh air website where they have transcripts you can buy, or you can listen to the entire interview in real audio or windows media player.
Oh my God...I'm watching World Poker Tour on Travel Channel. I mentioned this show last week when I saw it for the first time. It's great. Excitement, high stakes, lots of fun to watch this game.
This female player named Kathy...I guess a female poker player at this level is unusual, and they were trying to make a big deal of her. She won the first hand...she's feeling good. The second hand she is dealt an ACE and a KING (which is called Big Slick)...a great hand, according to statistics. Your chance of getting a paif with the flop is nearly 1 in 3. I don't think it's SUCH a great hand, because if you DON'T get a pair with the community cards, you are screwed with an ACE high with a KING kicker- which will never win you a hand! Anyhow...she had the ACE/KING before the flop- the only other player still in had a pair of QUEENS. This idiot (the woman) raises...gets raised back by the guy...and then she goes ALL IN. This woman is on the second hand and she has bet her entire pot with an ACE/KING. Of course, she was out of the game, and she was shocked. Don't ask me why she was shocked...since any pair would have beat her hand, and the guy raised AFTER she raised, so you know he had a decent hand! How this lady got into the final table round in the first place, I've no idea, because this was just a stupid move. I don't care how big they tell you a ACE/KING hand is- it's stupid to go all in in the second hand with that nonsense.
The point is- you read the other players...you don't start out with the huge bets, and you don't go all in unless you KNOW you've got a winning hand. That's my opinion.
A few hands later, some fool goes all in with a pair of FIVES. A pair of FIVES!! The only other guy in had a pair of EIGHTS, so this guy was out almost as quickly as Kathy was.
Let me in the game, I would have schooled these fools.
UPDATE: Some other guy just went all in with a pair of TENS. He would have won, but the fourth card laid down was an ACE, and it gave the second guy in a pair of ACES and the win. People! Chill a bit. You can be conservative but not TOO conservative.
Kristin Kreuk from Edgemont (which no longer airs in the U.S.- it DID air on Fox Family for one season) and from Smallville (a nerdy show I'd rather not watch- no offense!)

Also...this thing on MSN about mistakes that brought us great products (like Coke and silly putty) is pretty interesting...and the girl with the smart glasses is kinda hot too.
I've said it before, I'll say it again- minus the fact that she's a dirty porn star, she's fine...well, she WAS fine until she got breat implants. Who in their right mind has natural D cup boobies and gets implants?! Actually, I am fairly sure that Tera has major problems (she IS a porn star for God's sake) in her head, so she might NOT be in her right mind. Either way...

Arnold is the new governor of California...no surprise there. Davis' political career is over for good (thank God.)
One thing to point out- CNN is spreading their lies again when the idiot with the british accent stopped this mayor (of some city in CA) and told him, 'we don't know WHAT Arnold stands for.' That's bologna, since I have heard Arnold discuss his policies myself on a number of occasions. I guess the guys over at CNN are deaf or refuse to listen when he does speak about his ideas.
Who knew Traci Bingham was so hot? I keep seeing her picture in Video Store magazine for this movie called The Public Private...it has 2 guys from different Real World casts in the film. Anyhow, she looked way hot, sorta looked latin to me, and I was like whoa- who is that? I looked at the bottom of the ad, and it says Traci Bingham, so I was surprised, until I looked for some pics of her online. She IS fine.

Anyone subscribe to Real Player super pass? Or open pass? I'm not sure what the difference is, I just looked on the site for a minute, but didn't even see "open" pass, but on the player (which I hate personally) it says open pass is needed for lots of the content.
Anyhow, I have never liked real player, and real player one is the most annoying media player outside of of quicktime, which takes ten years to open and offers absolutely NO content if you ask me...but, I wanted to see if there was any good content for the price. Not even sure what sort of content they have...they list the channels, but it might just be clips that are only a few minutes long. I'm not into sports, but they have E!, ifilm, and playboy content and stuff...which isn't sports related at all.
I wish I had a credit card so I could get my membership to cinemanow.com again. They have some decent movies on there. Too bad they now charge like $20 a month for access to the porn movies, and what an assload of porn movies they have!...darn.
Alright...well, I'm gonna go back to listening to the latest "episode" of the radio talk show, Car Talk, which you can listen to free at cartalk.com.
I don't think I mentioned this before, but of course Rush has a valid point when he talked about the media and how it treats McNabb. What he said was in no way racist, and if it were said about any athlete besides a black athlete, it would have been no big deal. But, as a whole, the black community in the United States has racism on their minds more so than anyone group of people. Ask Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, who make a living out of claiming racism about EVERYTHING. Face it, folks...racism is not a big problem in the USA in 2003...it's only a big problem in the minds of some- mostly blacks who are racism-paranoid.
As Jacoby mentions, cbs sports named McNabb one of the most overrated players in football, BEFORE Rush said anything about him...other sportswriters, some of them BLACK agree with Rush. A black man on the very show Rush was on agreed with him point! No one claimed the other guy was racist, but since Rush is white and he said something about someone of color, it must be racism! It's ridiculous. The only way this comment would ever become a big deal is when a white person says this about a black person...blacks in the sports world can be racist, and very little attention is paid to it...but when Rush (a white man) speaks the truth about a player and the media...not even saying anything racist about him or any other black player or black person in general, tons of idiots come in with calls of racism. It's old, people. It's so so old.
A BUM 'BIGOTRY' RAP ON RUSH
By Jeff Jacoby
The Boston Globe
Sunday, October 5, 2003
http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2003/10/05/a_bum_bigotry_rap_on_limbaugh/
I'm not a sports buff and I know next to nothing about football -- and even "next to" overstates my expertise. So the name Donovan McNabb meant nothing to me until the Rush Limbaugh frenzy erupted last week. I know now that McNabb is the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback. And I know that Limbaugh triggered a furor by saying on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" that McNabb gets better press than he deserves because sportswriters don't want to come down too hard on a black quarterback.
"I don't think he's been that good from the get-go," Limbaugh commented. "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. . . . I think there's a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."
Limbaugh charged the media, in other words, with practicing a kind of affirmative action toward McNabb -- holding him to a lesser standard of excellence than white quarterbacks would be held to. If he had been talking about the University of Michigan's admission policies, or about Jayson Blair's career at The New York Times, nobody would have raised an eyebrow. But he said it about professional football, and for that he is being denounced as a vile bigot.
The uproar started with the Philadelphia sportswriters, but by Wednesday even presidential candidates were calling for Limbaugh's head. Wesley Clark condemned his "hateful and ignorant speech" and said he "should be fired immediately." Howard Dean labeled his remark "absurd and offensive." Al Sharpton scheduled a news conference, saying he would call for a national boycott if Limbaugh weren't fired.
The NAACP weighed in, too. In a press release on Wednesday, the organization's president, Kweisi Mfume, demanded that ESPN fire Limbaugh "or at the very least, provide an opposing point of view."
Apparently, Mfume didn't know that ESPN *had* provided an opposing point of view -- in the person of fellow "NFL Countdown" commentator Tom Jackson, who challenged Limbaugh's description of McNabb as soon as it was uttered.
"Rush," Jackson protested, "*somebody* went to those championship games. *Somebody* went to those pro bowls. *Somebody* made those plays. . . He has been a very effective quarterback for this football team over the last two or three years." Two other members of the panel, Chris Berman and Steve Young, agreed.
But not everyone on the show thought Limbaugh was off-base. Michael Irvin listened to the colloquy, then offered a succinct opinion: "Rush has a point."
Somehow, none of Limbaugh's on-air colleagues noticed that his comment about McNabb was "hateful and ignorant." Jackson, who is black, took him to task, but only over his assessment of McNabb's football skills. Irvin, who is also black, agreed with Limbaugh! How was it that no one on the ESPN lineup noticed Limbaugh's outrageous breach of decency? How could they have kept silent about something so grossly racist?
Answer: Because it wasn't racist. Limbaugh's claim that the media treat McNabb with kid gloves may be right or it may be wrong, but it bears no trace of bigotry. He said nothing racially derogatory about McNabb or black football players in general; he didn't say or imply that black quarterbacks cannot be great athletes. Limbaugh was accusing the media of (well-meant) bias -- of being so eager to see a black quarterback succeed that it tends to overrate McNabb's accomplishments. That may call for a rebuttal. It isn't grounds for a lynching.
I don't know enough about football or sportswriting to judge the merits of Limbaugh's contention. My gut sense is that in a society increasingly addicted to racial preferences, professional sports are one of the few arenas blessedly free of affirmative action and its double standards. If the NFL isn't a fierce meritocracy, then nothing is.
On the other hand, Limbaugh is hardly alone in thinking McNabb doesn't deserve his press notices. (CBS's Sportsline.com recently named him the most overrated player in the NFL.) Limbaugh's suggestion that the media's racial attitudes may affect the coverage of McNabb is at the very least debatable. So why shouldn't it be debated?
The herd mentality is very strong in journalism, but one respected sportswriter broke from the pack on Thursday to second Limbaugh's motion. "To pretend that many of us didn't want McNabb to be the best quarterback in the NFL because he's black is absurd," wrote Slate's Allen Barra. "To say that we shouldn't root for a quarterback to win because he's black is every bit as nonsensical as to say that we shouldn't have rooted for Jackie Robinson to succeed because he was black." Agree or disagree, you probably don't think that opinion should cost Barra his job. It shouldn't have cost Limbaugh his job, either.
(Jeff Jacoby is a columnist for The Boston Globe.)
To anyone who says there's no anti-Israel sentiment in the U.N., read the story below about how they condemned Israel for bombing a terrorist camp in Syria. Funny...when the U.S. goes and bombs terrorist camps in Afghanistan, it's okay, and no one in the U.N. tries to condemn us, yet when Israel does the same thing to protect their country from terrorists, the arab countries call for an emergency UN meeting. Shocking, the arab countries who all despise Israel and harbor terrorists themselves called for the meeting. Who would have guessed?! (gasp!)
Israel, terrorists condemned at U.N.

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y., Oct 05, 2003 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Members of the U.N. Security Council Sunday overwhelmingly condemned Israel's air attack on a reputed terrorist training camp near the Syrian capital.
Before the meeting adjourned Sunday night the council members also condemned the suicide bombing in Haifa, Israel, Saturday, which killed 19 people and led to the Israeli air assault.
Syria and the Arab League called for the emergency session resulting in an unusual Sunday meeting on the eve of the most holy day on the Jewish Calendar Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement, United Press International reported.
Members of the so-called Quartet backing the Middle East road map for peace, Russia and the United States, failed to explicitly condemn the Israeli air strike. The European Union and the United Nations also are Quartet members.
Most council members condemned the attack as aggression and a violation of international law, despite Israel's claim it was in self-defense.

Why did Dave Matthews do a solo album? That makes very little sense if you ask me. He was the singer in the Dave Matthews Band...so, umm, didn't he use a band on this new "solo" CD? So, he's not really solo at all...and if he has a band on the cd, why didn't he have HIS band? I'd be pissed if I were in the band. Dave would be nothing without the band...they have that odd ecletic sound. That's what made them popular in the first place, so how he does a "solo" CD, I will never know. And why he chose to do this, I'll also never know.
I'm just plain confused.
This one is for anyone who comes to my site to call me a loser and complains about what I post about!
Went to Kristy's to take her to wal mart...Brandon went with us. He's nice and all, a little talkative tho! He's cool tho.
I walked up to the door and Stephanie was outside talking to Troy...I came up to the door and she didn't even look at me, said nothing. We went to wal mart and came back and Stephanie was asleep, but she woke up 'cause we were all talking loud. She didn't say anything to me, kind of just ignored the fact that I was even there. So, she sits down next to Brandon on the couch and we were watching Joe Schmo (only because Kristy threw the remote at me, so I changed the channel to Spike TV.) Anyhow, she never said one word to me. Ugh, ugh, and ugh. This is the same girl that talked to me 3 or 4 days ago about taking our relationship to the next level. It begs the question, what on earth is wrong with people? Call me a loser if you want...:) I'll just laugh at your ignorance.
So, I guess that's that. Screw her. My name isn't Tyler, so I guess I'm not good enough. I don't call her names and berate her...maybe if I do, she'll dig me. Or, maybe not. Who cares anymore.
I printed out the schedule for AMC...from Oct 26-31, with all the horror movies. I also noticed that Turner Classic Movies is playing horror movies every Sunday night in October. Lots of Hammer films (never seen any of them), plus the classics from the 30's and 40's and such. That's all cool. Now, I just need to figure out if History Channel is playing The Haunted History of Halloween this year. Let's not forget Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin (I think that's the exact name?) that will air on ABC (if it airs at all, it usually does tho.)
I have an appointment at 10 AM, and it's 2 AM now. I'm not tired tho, so that sucks. I'm gonna stay up and watch the episodes of Brak Show and Aqua Teen Hungerforce that I taped while I was gone with Kristy and Brandon. I was going to watch THE RING, but I doubt I'll do that tonight...
I was watching the E! True Hollywood Story of Jenna Jameson for a few minutes (a few minutes ago), and she talked about how she was on The O'Reilly Factor. The adult video news idiot said that Bill called her a "slut," but I believe the only 'name' he called her was a glorified prostitute. I'm pretty sure that's how he put it, which is true- she is just that.
Jenna claims that when the cameras turned off right after their interview (the cameras never turn off, so Bill was being watched and taped during the break), that Bill said he had never seen her videos and asked her to send him some. This is obviously B.S., because Bill would have never asked her that. Even if he had wanted to ask her for videos (which is nonsense, he can buy them like anyone else), he wouldn't have done so, because he was being taped still! Not to mention the number of crew members and everyone in the control room who would have heard such a request. Bill actually came out a few days after the interview in his 'most ridiculous item' segment, and mentioned that Jenna claimed he asked her for videos, and he took that time to refute it, saying he never asked her for any videos, and that would be ridiculous if he had.
I just love how slutty Jenna, who makes her living spreading her legs, claims such nonsense like anyone would believe her. Well, I'm sure her fellow genius porn stars believe her, but come on...get real. She made an ass of herself on the show, then she makes an ass of herself by lying about the show. Poor porn stars...when will they ever learn?
First off, let me just say that part of the time Rosario Dawson is so hot, and other times she's just so weird looking.
Next...I'm about to go grocery shopping. Fun. I don't think I'm doing anything tonight, since Kristy has a big test to study for, and Stephanie doesn't like me so much. Well, she says she does...but I haven't heard a word from her in like 4 days. Last I talked to her, I asked her if I could call her and talk instead of chatting online...she didn't answer- just got up, left and the status was changed to 'playing volleyball.' Kristy said it was her fault, that she pulled her outside, but hello- she could have gotten back on and apologized or called or something. VERY annoying. I'm down to the final stretch...the point where I'm about to give up totally on her.
Did I mention JoRae (usually known as HoRae) blocked my AIM name? All because I posted about how I knew she was going to do what she did. Wah wah. It's okay tho, because she wasn't good for much but being halfway hot and being easy in the sack! Well, I mean, she let me into her pants the first day I met her (in person) and she screwed some guy she knew a whole week 4 or 5 times. You can't get much easier than that! :)
I was going to post the link to someone's "secret" livejournal, but I won't. I just think it's funny that some girls choose to totally not ever talk to you again, when THEY are the ones who did the bad thing that started all of the nonsense. I don't care anymore, I just find it humorous that some people are so immature.
I caught the episode of Threat Matrix last night with Sean Hannity in it...he was on for like 2 seconds. It was a pretty good story, and it dealt with timely issues (Iraq and a scientist who got VX nerve gas out of the country, hoping to use it to kill soldiers at Camp Pendelton (spelling?)
I got the movie Live From Baghdad on DVD. I taped it on VHS when it aired on HBO, and it's a great movie. Micheal Keaton is in it. It's based on the book by Robert Weiner, and I'd say the book is better overall. I also got some movie with Rosario Dawson- some indie looking film about $99 computers. I forget the name. I got those two and this history of halloween documentary that I have seen before, but I like it a lot, so I got it again.
I'm off to the store soon...guess we'll see if someone calls and asks me to do anything tonight. I doubt I will, but who knows...If only I could get Steph to call me! Ugh.
