Dishonest in Congress, Whiplash, and Debates

A note to anyone in Maryland or anywhere else for that matter. The House minority whipe, democratic rep. from Maryland, Steny Hoyer spoke on the floor today about the Federal Marriage Amendment, and he was completely dishonest about it and who supports it.

He claimed that it was an intolerant idea, and he compared it to racism and segregation...crazy ideas, considering that marriage isn't a right to everyone on earth- that's what makes it special, it's between 1 man and 1 woman, and it's been this way for thousands upon thousands of years. Comparing it to racism and segregation is disgusting- since you're basically calling the great majority of Americans evil people who are equal to racists! He said that it was purely political in nature, tho he never mentioned the courts are defying the people's will by trying to push thru gay marriage- proving it is NOT political. He also claimed only a small portion of the Republican party base supports the idea, which is also a lie- all the polls show that most Americans from the right, left, and center support banning gay marriage.

It's always nice to know who in the congress is full of it and who isn't. Make note that Rep. Steny Hoyer is one of the hacks in Congress who refuse to be honest.

For any of you who have seen the Taco John's commercials...you know who Whiplash is. To those who haven't seen them- in the commercials, Whiplash is a little monkey riding on a border collie, racing to give people yummy tacos and burritos from Taco Johns. He's wearing a cowboy outfit and riding the collie like he's a cowboy- they call him Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey. I thought he was maybe something they set up for the commercial, but apparently he's famous.(1)(2)(3)

I love those commercials, and you can't help but love that little monkey.
----------------------------------
I will be watching the first of 3 debates tonight...but, I have to say- both of these guys come off as cowards with all of these ridiculous rules. I should actually rephrase this whole thing- I will be watching the dual scripted press conferences tonight, since the rules are so rigid, there will be absolutely no debate.

I can't even begin to understand some of the rules the two candidates wanted- they must approve each others pens and paper that they're allowed to take notes on...they stipulated that the networks weren't allowed to take cutaway shots- they would have to keep the camera on the guy talking and not show the other...the networks refused this point, so it's not going to matter anyhow. All of the rules are pretty absurd, and they make the whole debate process a joke overall.

You'd think they wouldn't have all of these silly rules- it only makes them look more detached from the everyday person on the street, since most people are looking at these rules and thinking how stupid they are. I'd love to see a candidate who with some guts who would say- let's debate, no rules, we'll just be asked questions and we'll go...the way they're planned now, they're meaningless.
