Rather Must Resign

There's no longer any doubt. CBS is out to bring an end to the Bush presidency. Dan Rather, tonight, admitted that they actively went and seeked out Bill Burkett- a long time democrat, and more importantly a man who hates Bush with a passion, and that he was, indeed, the source of the forged documents.

First off- any reasonable journalist would not seek this man out who has blamed Bush for all sorts of crazy things and hates him like he does. From all I have read about Burkett- he's a nutjob. This shows us that they would go to anyone and find ANY documents to bring down Bush. Secondly- the very experts CBS had on their show said DO NOT GO WITH THESE DOCUMENTS- they're not reliable...yet they ignored 2 of the experts and used 2 experts on the show, tho those 2 have said they were misled and their findings were distorted.

Next, Rather stonewalls, claims there is no doubt that the story is true...he blames the political operatives with Bush as the ones questioning the documents. He then uses a woman who hates Bush and says he was "selected not elected" as evidence that- the documents MIGHT be fact, he won't even say that much...BUT, that the ideas and accusations in them are all true. Again, an unreliable source who discredits herself with her own statements, but Rather uses her anyhow...why? One can only guess that he is gungho (as are others at CBS) to sway the election in November away from Bush. That's the most reasonable conclusion there is.

Now, Rather has come out and admitted the documents came from nutjob Burkett, and that he didn't come to them, they went looking for him...even after they knew he was an unstable, bitter old man who hated Bush and would most likely do anything in an attempt to make him look bad.

This says a lot- I think it's time Dan Rather resigns. He no longer has any credibility, and he can no longer be trusted on any news issues, let alone major national news issues.

Also- I noticed a story last night talking about the inaccurate reporting in regards to a Bush campaign stop. Some news outlets reported that Bush supporters booed when the president wished Bill Clinton good health when he had heart surgery. Only thing- they didn't boo, and the story has been retracted. People in the audience have spoken out and said there was never any booing, but an "ahh." Nice to know the media is fully competent to report the news! Uh huh.
