Nonsense from Gephardt Supporters
Here is a list of nonsense from Gephardt supporters. A list that isn't even true.
The Bush Economic Record:
America has lost 3.3 million jobs since Bush took office.
Actually, there are more jobs/people working today than in 2000. There was a net job loss, but it was only 300, 000, NOT 3.3 million. Remember the terrorist attacks on Sept 11? Remember the recession that STARTED UNDER CLINTON? How is Bush to blame for the recession he inherited?
In August, more than 93,000 jobs disappeared.
And jobs are being created right now in December 2003, and 2003 is set to be the best year for the U.S. economy in 20 years.
41 million Americans have no health insurance. (4 out of 5 of them are in working families.)
Yes, and these same 41 million Americans had no health insurance under Clinton. So, Clinton is a "miserable failure" as well, right?
This is the 29th month of the Bush recession.
Actually, as I mentioned, the recession started under Clinton. So, get it right- "Clinton's" recession is in its 29 month. I also mentioned that the economy is turning around and records in various markets are being set in the past few months.
Right now, there are more than 9 million Americans who are looking for work.
As they were under Clinton.
Bush has the worst jobs record of any president since Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression.
As far as I can tell, this isn't true either. Statistically, there's no way the economy/jobs are their worst since the depression. The economy is set to be the best in 20 years.
More jobs lost than the last 11 presidents combined.
No idea where this fact came from...but even if you go with their inaccurate info. (3.3 million), there's no way possible that the last 11 Presidents (over 50-60 years time, have lost less than 3.3 million jobs. Then again, the correct number in NET LOSS is 300, 000. The fact is, more people are working in 2003 than in 2000.
Now, if these Gephardt supporters are going to claim this nonsense, they should at least try to get SOME of their facts straight. They should also not try to use stats like these at all, considering the fact that we all know Bush did not cause 9/11, which caused most of the economic issues. We also have to take into account the fact that most economists agree- the Bush tax cut helped stimulate the economy. I forget what Gephardt's position on the tax cuts is, but I think he's one of the candidates that would repeal them. If he did that, the economy would still be suffering from the effects of 9/11.
