I sat down for an hour earlier to play the Playstation 2 game, True Crime: Streets of L.A. It, of course, reminds me of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, but I like the cars and the different choices in vehicles with Vice City- so far...I haven't played any of the missions, just drove around doing the mini-crimes while you're driving to your goal.
The controls are nice, but again, I'm trying to use the controls for Vice City when I play this game...since, they're very similar in there in-the-car, out-of-the-car action. You can take anyones car, and you can drive around doing whatever you want.
You have missions that have animated scenes in between them, with the characters being explained, and all of that...I didn't listen to or watch any of the scenes yet, so I have no idea what the game is all about. All I do know is that in this game, you're a cop- the good guy...and you're out to get the bad guys. The city of L.A. - you can go to Hollywood, Chinatown, Downtown, Beverly Hills, the 10 and the 110, the 405, etc. All like in real L.A. Not so sure if the streets are set up realistically, but it's a big area the game covers in general. I haven't noticed any buildings you can go into yet...and no people to interact with- unless you consider shooting, kicking, punching, or searching, "interacting."
It's decent so far...maybe better than Vice City, but I should know more later when I play some real missions. The character is pretty cool...some asian guy who can do some karate looking moves, kicks, punches, whatever...my only complaint so far is the sometimes awkward controls and the cars you can drive- they all seem very slow and don't seem to handle very well.
